what im trying to say is that... if a knife can stand on itself easily on it's butt with the pointy tip aiming at the sky, it might be easy to accidentally fall on the knife and end up deceased.

and the part of the swimming pool interjection was that imagine doing a belly flop on a knife that is standing up with the razor tip pointing to the sky...

i don't know about your knives but my ka bar 1221 can easily stand up on it's butt

WOW...what would be the odds of a knife accidently falling on its butt and standing up...then you tripping at that same exact odd moment...and impaling yourself......
Kinda like that episode of Twilight Zone when the guy tossed the coin and it landed on it edge...and he had good luck all day till it fell.

Now as a soldier...I would use that as leverage and create a trap if needed

I can not stress enough the importance of READING THE KNIFE MANUAL before using a newly purchased knife.

The makers of the KA-BAR seem to have this area covered - legally anyway.
