can your knife stand on itself?

i agree with what longbeachguy said but use a whole lot less. maybe even consider giving it up.

I don't know what this thread is about.

Not one clue.

Can someone smarter than me please fill me in?

Unfortunately you would need to have a good basic understanding of quantum mechanics and string theory in order to grasp the fundamentals of this thread.

Personally I am inclined toward the open ended graviton loop theory myself.

I don't know how it could be any more clear...

If you are using a Kabar, be careful not to drop it because it will land on it's butt, and will impale you if you do a belly flop onto it.

Duh!

what im trying to say is that... if a knife can stand on itself easily on it's butt with the pointy tip aiming at the sky, it might be easy to accidentally fall on the knife and end up deceased.

Sprite is right. This happened to like nine guys I know.

Sprite,

I can not stress enough the importance of READING THE KNIFE MANUAL before using a newly purchased knife.

The makers of the KA-BAR seem to have this area covered - legally anyway.

lol

good one. really.

The answer to the question:
"If a knife stands on its butt".
Never!
Because...

We know you sit on your butt.
So a knife can only sit on its butt, never stand on it.

Clearer?

Somebody had to make sense of this all :)

Can it stand on itself? Mmm... I'd have to say no. It can stand on other objects, sure, but I've never seen a knife so flexible that it can stand on itself. Assuming it's not disassembled or broken. However, I invite my fellow countryman Gajinoz to tell us if he manages to create a spatial, non-temporal wormhole that would enable such a feat to take place.

The better question. Can you stand on your head?

Yeah sum of my knifes can stand on themselfs but im usully carefull the I dont fall on them and decease myself i kow a guy who that happned to but he didnt die cuz we gott him yo the hosptitle and the doctro saved his live

If a knife falls into a swimming pool landing in a standing position, but nobody was there to fall on it, would it still be considered dangerous?

There is another current thread with a title something like “Knives – be careful” that has a link to a detailed story about the lady who set down her knife while gardening and then tripped, falling on it, and the knife went right up to the hilt into her eye socket, piercing her brain. Amazingly, she seemed to make a full recovery. Why she put the knife down with the tip pointing up is something I do not fully understand. I think it was leaning against a rock or something. Maybe she was trying to protect the blade from getting wet or dirty or dulled by contact with the ground.

As long as you don’t stand the knife up like that, it should not be a hazard in any way. A similar problem is a knife that can stand on it’s spine with the edge (not the tip) straight up. This is a more common characteristic. But people who know how to handle a knife would not leave one lying around like that. I have seen careless (non-knife) people leave kitchen knives standing on their spines on kitchen counters. It’s just not smart. Someone could stumble and put their hand down on it easily, causing a bad cut. A perfect kitchen knife probably would not be able to stand like that.

In your case, it is something to be aware of and while you wouldn’t stand the knife on its butt, you should be careful who you lend the knife to in case they might do that, not understanding the safety implications.

Hah! That's what she wants you to think. Actually she died and now she's back as one of the undead. Quick someone get a wooden spike that stands up on its own in a swimming pool and make her dive on it!
