Canal street knives opinions please

I really like the D2 on my Canittler. They have a very nice looking Swell Center Jack coming out in D2, as well. I have ordered one in Stag from AG Russell. I know there are red jigged bone and an oiled rams horn versions out there as well.

Posted elsewhere, but here is the ram's horn cannitler in D2. Wonderful knife.

I was in the Canal Street factory in April. I was told that all the employees are former Schrade employees and have many years experience. The factory is in the original Schrade factory in Ellenville. There is no doubt that everything is done by hand!

My 14 year old son has trouble with his fingers which makes opening stockman and trappers difficult. The Cannitler worked out to be perfect for him. The blade kick sits just high enough that he can open all three blades.

We have several CS knives. The f&f is as good or better than any of the other production knives we own, and continues to get better. I don't think you will be disappointed. From what I've seen, I think the Cannitler is only available in D2.

Canittler's springs are perfect IMO, definitely not weak, but not nail breakers either. I open my EDC's probably 25-35 times a day, and if the springs were that ridiculously tight, I wouldn't have any nails left!

Here's the new swell center in stagged jig bone, great knife with excellent F/F. Blades are D-2 in this one as well, and it's a biggun' at 4 1/8" closed. Snagged at a new local knife shop with a huge C/S selection. I believe he's got a website too:

So two people have now mentioned weak springs. Are we talking stiffness on the order of most case knives or queens. I don't own a GEC so I don't really know how they feel.

On the 1/2 Moon Trapper, they are soft, not weak.
CS made them this way,
Easy to pinch open
I sharpened the 14-4 CrMo at an acute angle, it is very sharp and is keeping this sharp for ever!
The blade is the same lenght as a Case slimline
It comes in all sort of wood from Ebony to Olive, which CS is good for.
And Stag, Elk, and nice jigged bone.
Very slim and sits in your pocket without noticeing.

I recommend this knife

1/2 Moon Trapper in Olive wood
(Partial to Olive wood becuase as I look out my window I see hills and hills of Olive groves)

The stockman and the Cantilvier have medium spings

Odd man out here, not a fan.
Got rid of mine, the Half Moon Trapper in stainless and full Trapper in D2 had springs that were not at all to my liking, much softer than anything else. No Queen or CASE has anything like as mild a spring, and where's the snap??

But, this is all very subjective, a lot of people abhor heavy or strong springs, I don't. The more you use your thumbnail, the stronger it gets! That and B vitamins(beer is a good source)

Thanks to all of you for chiming in. I am heading to the knife shop after work and hopefully they they have one of these beauties in stock. I think I am partial to the rams horn. That is a good looking handle material.

I heve a amber bone canittler, 2007 and D2 and I like it
came non very sharp and became sharp in little time
I like it and it's well made, a bit costly but OK

go ahead, the canittler is a great pattern

I went to the shop and handled the canittler. I love it!!! It is a really cool build. The spring strength is definitely not an issue. The main blade is tensioned by two springs, and the secondary blades are perfectly tensioned for their respective size. That is a tank of a knife. I am throughly impressed. Unfortunately the shop price was a bit more than I had budgeted. So I came home and ordered it from another sooner state knife store ;). It will probably arrive with Saturdays mail. Wait, are they still delivering on Saturdays?
