I'm wanting a Fiskars ax/hatchet. The smaller one. 14"-18" I think. Nothing at Lowes. Nothing at Home Depot. Nothing at Target. Lowes had a few Fiskars products, but no axes or hatchets. Home Depot had lots of Fiskars stuff, but other brands for the hatchets. Have they stopped carrying them?

try amazon I just bought a couple for my camping buddies for christmas presents...
Dang Amazon.com sells AXES as well?
Somebody needs to give amazon.ca a big boot in the keister.
Heck i'd be happy if .ca would just start sellings SAK's and other non-book/dvd/game stuff.

My local Sears has them. I think they are $25.

Amazon.com has Red ALOX SAK Farmers for less than $15!

I just got a Gerber 14" sportaxe, It's stamped Fiskars on the handle($39.00 at Gandermountian) I've been told that Fiskars owns Gerber now  It looks identical to the 14" fiskars just has a black handle W/small white Gerber logo.;)

Yup, Sears. Around here, Ace Hardware and True Value Hardware carries them as well.

My local Home Depot had them on clearance at the end of the summer for $15-$16. Sadly they all sold before I could get one. Seems like Lowes & Home Depot are not stocking them around here anymore.

Got mine at Lowes, but it was the last one in the store and I haven't seen them in there again since then. Maybe they just bring in a bunch in the spring and when they're gone they're gone 'till next spring? Or maybe they stopped carrying them?

The big box store consider axes and the like seasonal.
Need room for the plastic Christmas trees and assorted junk.

I had the same worry about the Fiskars hatchets disappearing from from the local Meijers store. Sure enough spring came and so did they.

Try finding a lawn sprinkler valve this time of year.:D

Don't rub it in, lol.
Amazon.com sells SAKs.
Amazon.ca does not.
In Canada Amazon sells only books/games/dvds.
And amazon.com won't let canucks buy from them.
:grumpy:

If I was rubbing it in I would tell you that you also get free shipping for orders over $25.

I ordered 4. :D

Sorry for your pain. :grumpy:

I got a Gerbers axe-knife combo at REI recently, and I got a Fiskars hatchet at Orchard Supply Hardware...REI also has a bigger hatchet-saw combo that I've been thinking about. Good luck.

That is an amazing price ($15.25) for the single best knife a man can carry! And if you order two of them the shipping is free, too. That price is also $4.74 less than I paid for each of the two I bought from them recently. I don't know how they can sell them this cheap, but if you ever considered getting one for yourself and maybe one for a good friend now is the time to do it. You know, of course, that those red Alox Farmers are part of a special run. The red handles have not been available for a long time. Much of the red is worn off the old Farmer I've carried for many years. I think red Alox is so much prettier than the silver Alox.

I went looking for one of the Fiskars at Lowes where I know they carried them and I could not find one in 3 different stores. (2 located near where I live and 1 near work.) Also I noticed the item info was no longer on the axe holder like they used to be.

This was about 3 weeks ago or so.

Both Home Depoe and Lowes said try again in March. They would have them in about then. Samething every year.

Ebay is your friend look there, lol.
Or try any one of the online/mailorder camping/hunting/fishing companies.
Its not like its a folder or something with a complicated mechanism where its better to hands-on check the item for play/wobble before purchasing.
There are no moving parts in an axe/hatchet and all the fiskars i have seen have been of a consistent quality. Really you should be good to go no matter who you buy it from.
