Can't Find a Fiskars Ax!

Speaking of Gerber. . . If you're willing to spend a bit more money you can find the Gerber axes at a lot of outdoors stores like Dicks and Gander Mountain. They're more expensive, but I believe they come with a sheath which the Fiskars doesn't. The packaging for the Fiskars is supposed to be kept and used for a cover, but it's pretty clunky and not well suited to lashing to a pack and can't be used for belt carry at all.

im a huge Gerber fanatic and own many knives and tools. im very happy with my two axes, a small, backpack hatchet and a larger axe. you can find the Gerbers at Bass-pro, Sportsman's Warehouse, Scheels, and Cabellas. also, some Army/Navy Surplus stores may have them as well.

Our local Kmart, recently bought out by Sears has the 14" Fiskars hatchet in the lawn and garden section.

I would go with the Gerber as it is basically identical, however, it includes a nylon sheath where the Fiskars doesn't include anything except a plastic holder.

The Gerber 14" hatchet can be bought at llbean.com for $32 w/free shipping, and at kitterytradingpost.com for $32 w/ free shipping

Fiskars now owns Gerber (or the other way around???). There are any one of a hundred mail-order places that carry them all........

Fiskars bought Gerber in the late 80's. The Gerber Axes are mainly rebranded Fiskars, although I think the Gator? axes are Chinese.

The other difference are handle color, the Gerbers are always all black. The Gerbers also have a nylon sheath or plastic hard carrier depending on year imported.
