Carbon Fiber, Composite Blade, 0560.

Thanks for sharing your the first hand experience... are you just saying its too light so we wont buy them all?

But about that slicer... is that the "other" knife in the pic with all the cf knives Thomas W had in his pocket? (pic is in his "Day 2" thread)

It just a prototype piece isn't it? Don't know if it were used the real material or detent setting or so.

I dont think it would be classified as a prototype since the knife is already in production and this version just has different scales and a different blade material.

LOL, no. That's just my honest opinion. If the price is decent I may buy one, but it just didn't grab me like my 0561 did. Like I said though...that's just my opinion. I like the weight of an SMF, lionspy, and 056x type of knife.

The knife I'm talking about is right below the Tilt in that picture. I really like that knife when I got it in hand, but hated it in the pics I saw before today. It is just a larger folder with some weight that just flys out on deployment and seems like a great slicer. I did not see that other blade at all.

I'm sure Thomas will say that the detents are all different so one knife may have a heavy one while one may have a light one. I'm just hoping the one I'll eventually get will have a heavy one. I agree that the heavy detent really makes the knife. :D

What I'll say is every new knife we're showing is a proto. Don't think you should gauge final production judgements based on the literally the first prototype articles.

I have been lurking and learning on this forum for a short while and decided I wanted a 0560...Then I saw this thread. I just had to make my first post on how much I want one. Very nice blade Thomas and company!

Like many others here I waited almost a year for the 0560 to become available and it STILL exceeded my expectations so you simply can't go wrong with that choice. After I get my hands on a 0777 I'll be looking to pickup this latest version of the 056X.

I was at the booth today (Blade) and they said next year. I held the knife and was a little let down. The detent was too light, so using the flipper was kind of difficult (maybe it was just me) and because of the CF it was a little too light for my taste. They told me it was going to be a limited 1000 piece run.

These are two key things that make me love my 0561 so much. The detent is fairly strong so it shoots out when you use the flipper and I like a little heft to my knives...which the 0561 has.

In all fairness my guess is that the 0560 Composite had been handled to death. Even though there appears to be more than one in existence. The only reason I say this is because when I asked the guy to hold it someone had it in their hands. He says to the lady, "we only brought one".

Also handled the Ti/CF slicer, but that's for another thready...LOL I'll just say I like that knife A LOT more based on that one encounter.

The listing showed it to be 5.5 oz, while the standard 0560/1 is 5.8 oz. Is the .3 oz really that noticeable, or do you think the given weights are wrong?

I handled the cf/cb 560 and I like the detent a little soft. It just glides open. It's the same as my 0560. Which was a lot harder when I got it. But now I like the detent a little softer. All the new ZT's were awesome. Cannot wait for the 777 I have on order with Dave. "Should" be around 2-3 months before they start hitting. I was told MSRP on the cf/cb was $100 more than the 0560/0561. Thank You KAI team. Love the new direction.

Above I just gave my honest end user, non-affiliated, opinion. I can see this might get ugly so I will leave things where they are.

I love ZT/Kershaw and plan to buy more knives from them. I currently own a Tilt and an 0561.

Gotcha, didn't mean to stir things up. .3 oz is about a quarter and dime together, so I was just wondering. Of course I suck at gauging any sort of measurement and probably won't be able to tell one way or the other anyway when they're in my hand (hopefully they'll be in hand :D); show me the same distance twice, and I'll first say it's 10 feet then 10 yards the second :p

No problem, man. I have no issues, but I can see a difference of opinion developing and that can only lead to bad things.

I wish I had the money reserves for the 0777 and the CF/CB 0560. I can get just one...so the CF/CB 0560 seems like the better choice for me between the two. I hope I can get on the pre-order list when it comes out. **You hear that Dave? Hint - hint!** Put me on your notification list please!
