CF is textured, but nothing like the nasty cheese grater stuff on the CF Militaries. This should coexist peacefully with your pocket linings. Handle is just a hair longer than the original. Think the the original clip is both better looking and stronger, not that really it matters since I'd still take it off if I were going to carry the knife.

Couple more shots, a bit larger, and done indoors, with a tripod, so a bit clearer too. The one thing that did not show in the other photos was the fact that, unlike the CF Caly 3, the CF Stretch is ALL SCREW CONSTRUCTION!

Deacon - thanks for the pics. Mine is on the way from the pharmacy also. I am very happy to hear that the CF is different than that used on the Military. It just didn't appeal to me. I like the shiny CF on the Caly 3 and hope to like this just as well.

Very nice, I like the look of that one much more than the original steel-handled version.

Thanx Paul,

great pics.

Now you've got to switch that clip to the "wrong" side and carry that piece.

Hi Don,

Our delivery dates on ZDP pieces have not been cosnsistent. Hitachi makes ZDP on special order only and the lead time depends on their schedule. We guess at best on delivery.

The Stretch2 had been "in the works" for some time now. There were some minor adjustments in refinement, but the final product is as planned. Quite nice, albeit a bit expensive. the concept has been continually refined for more than 20 years.

Now we "hide 'n watch" for reactions to the design. I'd like to learn if an FRN version made like the E4/D4 would have demand and if ZDP should be the steel to use.

Let me be the first to say that I would almost certainly buy an FRN version of the Stretch II. Carbon fiber and G10 are too expensive for me.

I think a FRN/VG-10 version of the Stretch would be a great knife! Especially if it was in a royal blue or deep purple.
This is one of my favorite Spyderco designs of all. Great look to it and it fits my hand so well it feels like it was custom made for it.

A few more photos. First one for the folks who want to compare sizes, and the looks of Spydercos different CF types. Military - Stretch - Caly 3 - T-Mag - Delica

Blade is very nicely centered, and overall fit and finish is excellent. In fact, it's the best I've seen out of Seki City in quite a while.

Finally, one that attempts to show the skeletonization of the liners. Note too that the screws, including the pivot, are recessed into the scales ..

Chris, the design certainly appears to lend itself to replacing the CF scales with FRN ones, perhaps with a fine gunstock style checkering for grip.

Sal, am not sure whether I'll carry it or not. My lignum vitae one is a little lighter, a little shorter, a little more hand filling, - not to mention that I perfer natural materials to plastic, even "high end" plastic.

Paul, you never made a secret for your preference of the Stretch - now with the CF version I'll share your opinion. Mine is in the mail already ;)

Offer me a FRN version and I'll buy one, Mr. Glesser

Thats one sweet looking shank. Is this a limited edition/sprint run, or will it be available all year? Thanks!

BTW I think an FRN version would sell, a nice middle ground between the d4 and e4, but with a finger choil and jimping. It would definitley be on my list.

Sal,

Thanks for the info, I truly appreciated that. I guess some of us here would just have to wait for our pre-order to arrive.

Don

Hi Zen,

I forgot the tag. :o Guess I'll have to add it in the future.

hey Mark,

the Stretch2 is regular production, but it's limited production due to the exotic materials and quality. Some thought it might be a sprint or will be just one run because of high cost.

We make about 200 pcs per month.

If an FRN Stretch came down to my price range I would be very interested. I would not mind S30V or VG-10.
