Carbon shealding in HT oven

JT, I have a pdf copy of the ASM Metals Specialty Handbook Heat Resistant Material. It has a lot of information that may be helpful to you. It has information on this very subject.
 
JT, the HT didn't leave any of those small circles this time. The black stuff came off with ease using 220grit by hand. Thanks again for the D2 and 15n20 -- i'll be sending you more business once i get re-settled. Plenty of flaws in this paring knife (see handle flaw thread) in addition to my copper coming up short on the shoulders.
