"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

The doctors' knife thread made me remember this English jack. I searched everywhere before remembering that this tin has knives in it. Three old school folding hunters, four big Barlows, a cokebottle, a hippekniep, and a stiletto. and a Stainless Japan lockback.

Now that would make an interesting "pile" :)

I know the feeling, I was looking for some papers, and stumbled across a large shoe-box (for my large shoes! :D). There must be 50 knives in it, maybe more, that I'd put away until I'd got time to clean and fettle them - probably been there a couple of years

I recently found this clipping that my late Mother in Law had saved. This was my grandfather's daily driver from about 1910 until Hartwell Railway bought their first GE 44 ton diesel switcher (avatar photo) in 1941. It's an American Locomotive Company 2-6-0 (Mogul) that replaced a narrow gauge (3 footer), a 2-4-0 Baldwin I believe. That's him in the cab, it was a shortline that ran from Hartwell Ga to Bowersville, Ga.

thats a great picture ....but for a fleeting moment I thought it was going to be another.."I found an old box" post or I found this old steam train as I was mowing the backyard....:Dimagine that.
Theres a club here in Wollongong called Live Steamers..miniature steam trains..these guys scratch build everyt hing...some Sundays they open up for rides around the miniature railway. Its awesome...they even have miniature shovels for the miniature coal.
you ride on the sit upon carriages . These things have immense power..are able to cart 20 people or more at atime and the whole thing runs more efficiently than the state rail system. There is one called Woody that is very similar to your Grandfathers loco.

Another sentence only knife people would understand :D

That's funny and spot on at the same time. I just got to thinking what non-knife people would think if you said "I've gotta dogleg in my pocket" , "let me grab my peanut', "would you like to see my lambsfoot" or finally for me "I really like carrying my canoe in my front pocket". :D:D
Let's have some fun with this, what can you come up with?

I has a sad now...

Not necessarily a pun type knife lingo, but awhile back I wrote a sentence that only a few months before would have been total gibberish to me. Like " I have a Challenge, barehead harness jack, spear main with a long pull and swedge, Empire punch, jigged bone covers, gimp shield, rattailed bolsters, hammered pins strong walk'n'talk no wobble" Less than a year ago none of that would have made much sense to me lol.
