It's not questionable, it was better before.

Dan.

At first, my reaction to that abomination of demented fashion was unprintable. Upon reflection on it, its still mostly unprintable. But if that is indeed a real photo, then I feel joy that as an old fart soon looking at 80 years on this rock, that I don't have that many years to go, and I won't be around to see the fall of our country as well as maybe even the world society.

I think the time is come for me to spend the rest of what days I have, sitting on a bar stool in the Schooner Wharf bar until I have absorbed enough that I can no longer sit on said bar stool.

Then the next day, just repeat the action. Continue until...

I run out of funds and then just start walking south.

They have opened up Operating rooms for non-critical surgery here!
Who knew I was at the top of the list?? I go in to have one of my carpal tunnels fixed today, after waiting for a year and a half. They have assured me it is safe and straightforward, and I will go home the same day! (today). I might not be typing for a short while, so I'll see you all later!!:)
I warned you....but oh no you had to buy those skinny tight jeans didnt you ...and now look...surgery to remove them and restore the circulation....soooo last week!
All The Best Charlie for a quick rehab...I think its a fairly standard procedure these days...best wishes.

Give em a break Dan!
Obviously they left the new design in the cab on the way to the airport and had to improvise ....at last minute...with whatever they could find in the dressing room...op shops ...and skip in the alleyway...
Soooo challenging ....sooo now.....soooo utterly predictable....and sooooooo uncomfortable to actually wear....fashion winner in my book...
Question: has anyone ever seen another non catwalk model wearing these costumes in normal life...not including clowns at work.?

Never seen anything like that. Of course, I don't hang out in places where one is likely to find that!

As you said: it‘s a costume and those are normally only worn on special occasions (i.e. carnival...)

A long time ago, way before the current fashion cycle was conceived, I was in Los Angeles for a deposition, riding an elevator in a tall office building on Wilshire Boulevard. A couple of young women got on, one dressed kind of like the guy on the right, but much better looking, the other dressed like a maid, one of the dirty ones with black fisnnet stockings, a frilly little apron, and a really short skirt.

This sight brought out my inner yokel. I chuckled to myself and thought, “I had forgotten how different it is out here. The legal secretaries sure don’t dress like that in Minnesota.” Then I rememberred. It was Halloween.

I'm sure all went well. But we'll look forward to hearing from you soon.

Jackknife,

Forgive me, i didn't want to hurt you, make you drink and go south, stay with us.

I have a niece who, liking to kid me about my puritanism, has sent me the picture. To make me laugh, certainly, but it didn't. On the left: Cary Grant, personified elegance; on the right: the embodied ridicule.
Not just any of the ridicules, the indecent ridicule. Of this indecency that makes the world more ugly day after day.

Since we are talking cloth, be sure i'm not a fashionable hipster, have you seen how, nowadays, without falling into the extreme case of the photo, many people are dressed? Like kids! And they speak and behave like kids.

I have about that an anecdote.

Once a coworker told me he had never seen me wearing sneakers, blue jeans and tee-shirts. He wondered why and advised me to update.
I thanked him for his solicitude and advice but expressed my disagreement on that point. For two reasons:
I'm not the kind of guy who changes his uses, as bad as they can be.
Tee-shirts, sneakers, blue jeans are clothes for kids (i agree it's an exaggeration but often an exaggeration is the best, if not the only one, way to be understood in few words).
Kids are immature and ignorant, it takes time to learn, therefore they can't make relevant choices, therefore they depend on the decisions of those around them, therefore they are not free.

Free men wear shirts with a collar, closed with buttons, with long sleeves. Isn't it a clear and convincing demonstration?

Dan.

As much as it hurts me too say this ....I think my high school teachers in the late 70s had better style/ fashion/polyester*
than whoever "designed" the garb(age) that poor simple cretin is wearing in that pic.
They wore beige and brown short sleeved shirts (with the under arm b o stains ) with a tie(no no no) and shorts (preferably with huge belt) walk socks pulled up to knees teamed with worn out shoes( black or brown maybe dark red leather as long as different colour to belt)...

*slashes for desired effect.

I vividly recall telling a friend of mine once that despite the fact his t-shirt was a designer brand which cost him some 300 dollars he'd be better off attending his job interview in a 25 dollar button-down from one of the major supermarket/mall/mass-consumer-mouse-trap stores instead.

There is clothing that is practical that does not venture into costume. There is clothing that is beautiful and elegant without screaming for attention. There is clothing from cultures other than yours - that though you might never imagine yourself wearing - is inspiring, even breathtaking in its variety, tradition, symbolism and/or artistry.

Room for all of that in the tapestry of humanity. All that being said and with all the extraordinary diversity available, even close to home, has me wonder about the desire to wear torn jeans & underpants over your suit jacket  I try not to judge. :) Mostly, I fail in the attempt.:(
