"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

As we say in Australia-
Aaaah-aaa muuuuuummm!
In that'I dont wanna wear my jumper' voice.

I noticed that one a while back, too, and mentioned it in this thread about traditional knives in movies. After looking at it more closely, I think it's a Schrade Scrimshaw. Here's a highly cropped photo from the movie, and the only photo I could find of the particular Schrade I'm pretty sure is a match. (Sorry for the poor photo quality/size on each.)

They missed a trick in choosing that pattern! ;) :D

I'm looking forward to the Olympics. I always enjoy watching the more obscure events (and thankfully now they televise pretty much everything). I think Ellie is excited about the Olympics, too. :D

I see you are already spending your clothes budget on Ellie. That has a tendency to happen. Wait till the Prom.

Had a bad night tonight...two accidents in one week. Both on Friday nights. This is not my week. Totalled my personal vehicle...my only vehicle. Awesome!

RobertJ1,

You're a very lucky man!!!

When you walk away from a wreck where the car is an un-recognizable twisted pile of metal, just thank the Lord above for the good graces. Cars can be replaced, lives and/or body parts not so much.

What was that you were driving?

Carl.

Also don't forget to thank the engineers at Mercedes Benz who developed the concept of crumple zones, then distributed the idea throughout the industry instead of patenting it.

That was a 1994 Suburban that I've had for a while...kept that thing in fantastic condition. It had 445k original miles on it without a single overhaul on any component.

My eye is ok...it was my glasses that tore my eyelid when I headbutted the steering wheel upon impact. The seat belt snapped in half and I bent the steering wheel 45 degrees with my chest. Damn deer lol.

Happy you are still with us! That old Suburban sure paid for itself.

I thought maybe an airbag hit you inn the face. No airbags in '94 tho. Glad you are okay. I got rear ended last spring and my car was a total loss also. Had that car for 10 years and loved it.

Rob is the front end damage from the deer hitting it or did you swerve to avoid and hit a tree or something?
Glad to hear you are OK.
Hey Barrett -beautiful pic of Ellie- thanks for showing:)

Robert I'm sorry both your car and your face got banged up but I'm really glad you didn't get hurt worse than you did. From the looks of that front end you were lucky my friend.

We have a house we use as a vacation rental and it was not rented this week. So my wife, two daughters, one of my daughter-in-laws and five of my granddaughters took possession of it this morning for a few days. She apologized profusely for leaving me alone this morning while all the time I was trying to hide the big happy grin on my face. I'll just say isn't it just awful sitting here all alone in front of a 60 inch tv with the summer Olympics on and a large container of nachos (take out from a wonderful local Mexican Restaurant) and a gallon of root beer they make inhouse. Yea this week alone is going to be rough. :D
