Carothers/Loriendesign Chopper WiP

you got that burly version, right?
I have one of those coming, and can't wait to test it

Lorien, I have to say you and Nathan have done a magnificent job. Not since my original Battle Mistress have I enjoyed swinging a knife as much. The balance and Ergo are close to perfect for me and although I usually prefer flat ground blades, I really like the way this sabre feels and how it does not bind up in wood nearly as much as my flat ground blades.

My personal experience says only convex does not bind .............

Never to be the equal of Woodsmaster Lorien and his trailblazing expertise, I did whack the hell out of damn near everything I could whack....within reason. ;)

I finished up by beating upon a 50+ year old oak railroad tie until I was damn near worn out. I can say without doubt that this is the finest chopper Ive ever wielded, it bites EXTREMELY deep and the edge retention is phenomenal....I swear that it's just as sharp now as when I got it, easily shave hair....as long as I keep out of the Creosote. :)

Yes, it's Prototype #1....

is that the burly version, Dudley?

Nice! I've used my prototype a bit and haven't had to sharpen it yet. This thing is a beast.

really looking forward to getting a heavy version for testing. It's a beast!
thanks for the kinds words as well, Dudley :)

I just wanted to say that I am really enjoying this knife! It feels great in my hand, I like the balance, and while it is pretty light weight it chops like a much heavier knife. I took it camping with me last week and put it head to head against several similarly sized blades chopping a range of soft and really hard wood, and it performed excellently. Impressive knife indeed.

Ooh, that is quite the array of sharp shiny things. I am envious.
