Beautiful day today. Around 50° for the high, and a good day to go hiking. Went to Carpenter Park again, as it's the nearest place for us to go hiking. The scenery isn't the same as Shawnee, but we still had fun. Any day in the woods is a good day.

I wondered if it was gonna be muddy, and it was, big time. The leaves still covered the trail, but your foot would easily slide. Still pretty out though:

Had to wait for the wife to go back to the car and get her sweater, so I took a few random shots:

Some kind of mushroom thingy growing out of a log:

Nice sky today. Trees around here are beautiful too:

Rockin' the sling bag again. Basically just had stuff to cook with in it. You can see the frozen Sangamon River in the background:

We had to go down this hill, but it worried me because it was so slick. Once 280lbs gets going downhill, it's hard to stop, haha. I walked nearest the trees, to have something to grab onto on the way down:

Tree that had fallen over:

Looks very leaf covered, and dry, but like I said, it was as muddy as can be under the leaves:

Odd tree:

I could stand in it:

Another river shot:

Big ol' tree:

And down river:

Beats the hell out of me. Were walking along, and there it was:

This old tree with a big burl was huge:

Fired up the Emberlit. Nothing fancy this time to fire it up. Stuck leaves in there, with small twigs on top, and lit it up with a Bic lighter:

Took the lid and insert pan from my 12cm Zebra billy pot, along with the Snow Peak kettle, a perfect fit:

Wife cutting up some bacon, oh yeah:

You can tell the lid and insert pan from my Zebra pot have never been used:

Bacon is sliced:

Getting the bacon going:

Meanwhile, slice up a little onion:

Fry that bacon:

Add the onions:

Sometimes I had to lift the skillet off the stove a bit, as it would get too hot:

Used the can opener on my VIC Camper to open up a can of pinto beans:

Warm up the beans:

Throw the bacon and onions in:

Salted, peppered, and ready to eat:

It was damn good, and fun too:

Wife used her Breeden necker that 1066vik gave her. She loves that knife:

Sunset on the way home was beautiful. Couldn't decide which shot I like the best, so here's all of them. Nothing compared to how it actually looked:

So awesome. Thanks again for sharing. And what is that espresso thing?? That looked really cool. So cool that I may need to pick one up.
And damn I always love seeing those scales on that 14. You ever get tired of them, let me know. lol

Thanks for the info on the Espresso maker. Probably gonna order one soon.

And if you are serious about selling the knife, let me know, I'll take it.

Thanks Warrior!
No problem. You haven't seen my price yet, haha. ;)

Looks like a great hike. Food looks tasty and the espresso maker is pretty cool. And damn if I haven't been checking out these Emberlit stoves and Snow Peak kettles!

Thanks man. Haha, you got the Emberlit and Snow Peak bug too, eh? :D

Argh!! All you guys and your Emberlit pics are driving me insane! I'm seriously gonna have to remedy my lack of wood burning stove come spring (IF I can wait that long...)

Great pics as usual TW. I've been getting a serious case of cabin fever lately; these TR's sure aren't helping lol. Can't wait till the weather warms up here. Great sunset shots. Thanks for sharing!

There's that damn stove again...

Looks like a good day out..

Glad you figured out the issue with the photos.
