I am the type that feels naked without a knife. I am going to a smaller venue, maybe 10,000 people, half indoors and outdoors. I have the following to choose from. BM Pinnacle (my edc), MT LCC, Buck stockman, Buck 110 ultralight (old beater), Utilikey, german mini sak type multiblade. I guess my fixed blades are out of the question. Any suggestions guys?

A knife is by default a tool, it's only a weapon when a human chooses to make it so.

If you think they are going to frisk you or might set up a metal detector then I'd not try anything more than your "beater". If someone at the door takes it you sure aren't going to see it again.

Spydercards or other similar items are nice in instances like this because you can usually get your wallet passed through without too much trouble.

Something that you can clip onto your keyring would most likely pass pretty easily as well.

Of course depending on what kind of concert it is perhaps if you hang your knife from a piercing you can slip it through as part of your look.

In general I have been able to take nice red SAK's to more places than other knives. I would pick something of modest size with some extra functions like a Tinker model. If that won't fly I would pick something to go on your keychain.

The risk of getting frisked by security depends, frankly, on how you look and what kind of concert it is. I have nothing against folks with 15 tattoos, nose rings and purple hair. But if that's you, you will be frisked more often than some ordinary looking Joe who's wearing khakis and a collared shirt. Right? Wrong? Beats me, it just is.
Also, if you're talking about a James Taylor concert or something like that, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're talking OzzFest or Godsmack, etc., be aware that security will likely be on alert. With this in mind, make your decision accordingly. If you're likely to be frisked, bring a beater or nothing at all. If being patted down is unlikely, then just take whichever knife you want.
Meanwhile, I would NEVER advocate concealing a knife in waistband on even tucked into a shoe as a means of getting in past the security guards, so don't even think about it. ;-) That might run afoul of the law.

It's the Allman Brothers and from past experience they do a quick down-the-sides frisk. I have short hair and look quite conservative, but will have a concert tee shirt on. I also forgot to mention I have a Running Dog Little Camper neck knife, and a German (forgot the make) mini sak type multiblade (with the little rubber dots for grip). I don't want to lose any of them, so I'm leaning toward the Utilikey or nothing.

Why even attempt it. And don't rely on rumor or past "frisk" experiences. . .

There's no need to carry ~ leave it in the mode of tranport that brought you there or leave it at home.

I'm with GigOne on this one. Leave it in the car. The Allman Brothers tend to attract a pretty mellow crowd; most people will be too stoned to remember their name let alone bother you. For what it's worth, though, I have never been thoroughly frisked at a concert, even when I had long hair, etc. At most, they pat down your sides, if that. Others may have had different experiences. I probably could have taken a machete into every concert I have been to, including Monsters of Rock, etc.

bring a smallish knife, wear tighty-whiteys, and stick it between your butt cheeks. i'm dead serious. you're still screwed if they use metal detectors, though, in which case i'd take a walk back to the car.

Unless there are metal detectors, take a light weight, small knife with a clip (like a Delica) and clip it to you underwear behind where zipper runs. When away from the JBT wannabes, put it in your pocket.

Take the SAK. For God's sake, what is the world coming to when you can't carry a slipjoint folder?!?

I'll second the SAK recommendation. You don't want to be anywhere without one. Especially at an Allman Bros. show - that roachcl... err, tweezers come in handy.
Great band! Enjoy the show.

DO NOT CARRY ANYTHING INTO A CONCERT!!! I say this from experience. I went to a Metallica show about 8 years ago and forgot that I had my Spyderco Endura on me. I went throught the gate, set off the detectors and got frisked and carted off to the Security Office were I was interrogated for more than an hour as to why I had a knife on me. I was in the military at the time, so I tried to go that route, but they were not buying it. I was finally let go after I convinced them that I was not out to kill Metallica and that it was an honest mistake. Needless to say, I lost my knife. They said I could pick it up after the show. I went to the office and no one knew anything. Bastids.
Please, please, please do not take anything into the venue with you, leave it in the car.

I don't stand out with a croud, but on occasion I forget that I am carrying a knife.

I carried a Spyderco Rescue to a GWAR show, they were just taking mace and the spikes away durring the show, so I just slipped through un noticed.

I carried my Ken onion kershaw (I forget the name but it was one of the first ones) and a balisong, and wasn't noticed, but they took my spikes at a Misfits show.

So just looking like a normal person is a good thing afterall. I guess

I would just go with the utilikey. Small, light, I usually forget I even have it.
Good luck,
Matt

I agree with the others who recommend the SAK or the Buck stockman. I don't think you will need a blade larger than a couple inches for a concert. Besides, some folks are threatened by large lock-blades (like Buck 110s and Enduras) but I don't know anyone who is threatened by a SAK.

I've yet to see metal detectors around here but if they do have them you are out of luck unless you have a Frequent Flyer or something similar. What are your fixed blade options? What do you think you will be wearing? Shorts or jeans, long sleeves or short. In my expierence security is more interested in bottles than knives. A clip can easily be hidden by a pager or cell phone and with duct tape where there is a will there is a way.

I have carried a Case peanut to various concerts, it is often missed by a quick frisk, and is one of the most non-offensive looking knives out there.
