why carry 2 folders? just wondering.. especially in an office environment..i could maybe see a tactical reason for military/law enforcement ..or the argument to carry a SAK and a folder or a multitool and a folder but 2 folders? im sure theres a logical explanation and im just missing it

There isn't a logical explanation. Some people just want to carry more knives.

I group them together with the people that wear a watch on each wrist. Weird.

My Sebenza and Case peanut have been buddies for a long time. Some tasks lend themselves to certain sized blades. For example, stripping wire and cleaning fingernails is easier accomplished with a little blade.

I once saw a sales guy at a law enforcement store that carried 15 folders on him. Now THAT's weird.

For those who carry 2, it's not that weird if you have a tiny folder on your keychain, and you carry a full size one clipped to your pocket. That's what I do.

i can see the reasoning behind carrying a smaller slipjoint or sak and a folder... or a leatherman etc.... just strange to carry 2 similarly sized knives.. all i get is a visual of a person whipping them both out and yelling rawr :)

granted most of us live in a semi urban jungle vs a real one and the likelyhood of needing a "backup" is minimal

then again i know people who carry like 2 guns 3 pocket knives 2 flashlights and survival gear just to goto the gas station.. i think they also have bunkers talk about the govt alot and wear tinfoils hats as well :)

I carry two; one big, one small. I use the small folder if I need to be discrete.

I carry 2 knives on a daily basis becuase 1 is a sharpened prybar and the other is most definitely not. for example, most times, the blur comes out, does what it needs to do and pops back in. the 0200 sticks around in my pocket until i need a big heavy blade for something, and then it comes out. I have used it for cutting down saplings and such. I once used it for digging a small hole because I had nothing else on me and I knew it would not hurt it.

Tl, DR: I carry 2 knives so that I do not use a knife for something it was not intended to do.

I don't have a concealed carry permit for california since I just moved here. (I don't think I'll be able to get one anyway) So i have a big folding knife in that pocket now.

That being said I always carry a swiss army knife as well, the screw driver and bottle opener come in handy a lot.

you might want to check the CA knife carry laws to make sure what their carry laws are for size and concealment

He's fine: CA doesn't have any restrictions on blade length for (non-automatic) folders, and both open and concealed carry of folders are legal. :)

thats not true, different counties/cities may have their own local set of rules... IE los angeles:

SEC. 55.10. CARRY KNIVES OR DAGGERS IN PLAIN VIEW PROHIBITED.
(Added by Ord. No. 162,995, Eff. 1/7/88.)

(a) As used in this section, the term knife or dagger shall include any knife, dirk or dagger having a blade 3 inches or more in length, any ice pick or similar sharp tool, any straight edge razor or any razor blade fitted to a handle.

I used to work with a guy who carried one knife for work purposes, this was at a garden center, and another specifically for cutting food. It kind of makes sense to me, although I do not do it myself.

True -- I was just talking about the state law.

The wording on this suggest that one could carry an over 3"-bladed folder in LA so long as it was deep pocket carry and not visible. Am i off base here? Safer, I suppose, to stick with a Delica in the City of Angels.

im sure a para 2 clipped to the pants would be fine.. even in NY where the laws are outrageous 99% of the time cops wont mess with a clipped knife if only the clip is exposed...

well...i always carry 2 blades on me...usually one primary folder, and one multitool (sometimes a 2nd folder).....reason being....when someone ask me for a blade, i can hand over my cheaper blade.....so i dont have to worry about them screwing around with my large sebbie. =)

Here's a logical explanation....

"Why not?"

For me carrying two folders is logical, I have the small keychain knife for quickly opening a box of printer paper or other packages in the offices. Nobody gets spooked. The second one is (for now) a tenacious, used for cutting hosepipe, tie wraps and similar stuff in the testing area. It is an appropiate knife for that sort of tasks and nobody raises an eye brow. You see, logical explanations.
Sometimes (well, most of the time) I carry a third, or even a fourth. Only explanation for that is that I like to have'm with me. Weird.
