Carrying any special or particular knife on the 4th of July?

GEC Northfield red bone #36 has been on all cutting chores today. Ribs still have a couple of hours to smoke...

Happy 4th of July, Everybody!

Well I changed my mind before I left for work and decided to carry my Case 6292 Texas Jack with me:

Figure I might as well get the patina going on it sooner or later, so it's first job was to section an apple for me.

The pic of the 6292 was cropped down from a group shot of several of my Case jack knives

Beautiful Case knives! I especially like the bone on your 6292.

I have one that is a year older than yours. It was a gift, and came to me unused. I struggled for a while with the decision about its condition, but finally chose to put it to work.

As I received it:

These big jacks are really good knives, aren't they?

I was very disappointed this morning when I realized I didn't have a made-in-USA knife to carry, but then I realized that our nation has a great history of imports! It doesn't matter where you were born: America is a country defined not by birth, but by choice. I went with my Wenger Patriot; Swiss by birth, American because it's in an American's pocket!

I usually don't get into Chinese imports very much (not bashing them or starting a debate with anyone, just personal preference) but that is a handsome knife. Saddlehorns in general catch my eye a lot lately. I thought to myself the other day that custom makers seem to make a lot of saddlehorns and similar, Lanny's clips, etc, and this inexpensive knife has shown me why. Sexy pattern, and I don't throw around the word sexy for inanimate objects usually:)
