Carrying too many knives????

The question I have is if you need to cut something which one do you use? =)

Depends what needs cutting. On that paticular day, food was cut with the endura. S.a.k. was used to open some packages etc. and lent to a few people. The zt cut down a 12 ft. tree that was blocking the sun. Lol. No but it was there for that just in case i needed a diesel knife moment.

Gees, you're really part of that 2 is 1 and one is none crowd huh? LOL

I EDC one folder that does it all, and one small fixed blade. On my pack is just one larger, more capable fixed blade, one folder and a Mt

Naw,

Each one has a different shape, size, and grind :) Best tool for the job. Need to cover my all my bases.

Asking how many knives is too many in this group is akin to asking an alcoholic if he has had two much to drink. There is always room for 1 more.

In response to your question, I average 1.5 depending on the date and time of the week. If I carry a folder it's usually 1 larger one 3.5 and up. If I carry a fixed blade, I will add a smaller folder.

Generally a small fixed and a folder, however since I am also a boot junkie with 15 pair, I also slip an out the front in the shaft pocket that I add to all harness and engineer boots.

There are many things in there world that properly constitute "too many", like plantar warts and baby mommas. EDC knives aren't on that list. In fact, the guy with two or more EDC knives is more likely than not to be self-reliant, responsible and courteous.

The big folder (today's is a composite blade Leek) is carry in my right back pocket in case I need to baton a telephone pole for firewood during the current global cooling crisis. You just never know.

Haha. This made me laugh!

Absolutely minimum loadout, never ever leave the house without these two:

Then I usually add a small fixed blade or a large folder. And there's a Vic on my keychain, so that is always with me as well...

Me too and most of the time my small copper flashlight that I first saw here on the forum. Honestly when I see the pic's of pocket dumps and hear how many things people carry my first thought is HOW! I know I couldn't carry all that stuff. In fairness I do have a shoulder pack that's never too far away and I've got enough in there to arm a third world country.

Mike

I'm in the one handgun & one folder crowd. Never been in a position where I needed more of either.

Carried 3 today, as always.

Wenger clipper. It's does have a small blade and is very useful.

Victorinox Soldier. For others to use if they need to borrow a knife.

And a #92 GEC. For me.

Ken K.

Three knives. Not a bad start. But I've got a few more than that.

My standard EDC loadout most days in a Leatherman Rebar, Victorinox Fieldmaster, Tinker, Classic SD, Spyderco Tenacious, Becker BK14, and BK9.

My wife just called me crazy for carrying 3 knives on me today. We went to a family picnic in a public park. I was carrying a small single blade Swiss army folding knife. A spyderco endura 4 in a nylon pouch on my belt and my zt 0562 clipped in my right pocket.

First off, SAKs don't count; neither do multi-tools no matter how many blades they have.

That said, a strong-side folder, particularly if with flipper or Wave just "is" so that maybe perhaps might count as one. An Endura is so light it may count but not as a full one. The pouch thing may even affect the count - I 'll have to think on that.

So, while it is subject to discussion and even doubtful that you, in fact, even really had "three" I would still say that you were a bit crazy. I mean seriously, a picnic - with only three knives? What were you thinking?:eek::rolleyes:

For the record, I'm a folder, a SAK and a multi-tool kinda guy myself. If afield, a fixed blade or two will also be with or near me.

Haha. I have 5 on me right now and I'm sitting in my office writing computer software. Madness.

The 5 are: a Vic Rambler in my wallet, a Case small texas jack I want to redo the patina on, a Vic Farmer, a small fixed blade, and a Mora Companion.

Normally it's just a Rambler/Classic, and a larger SAK or traditional pocket knife - I've added the small fixed blade to have something that won't fold on me, but I haven't really had to cut anything with it. The Companion is normally in the car, but it hopped into my pocket last night and I forgot to take it out this morning.

Spyderco delica, right front pocket. Victorinox Classic, change pocket. Leatherman Juice, gets most of the work. Cold Steel Rajah 3 for backup in case i need to get medieval on something, otherwise never used (Cold steel varies, sometimes it could be a Spartan, Talwar XL, Voyager XL tanto or clip, Recon One)

Again, three bladed instruments on me at all times. Today these are the chosen ones...

And no mega folder from CS because it's Saturday!

I always have my Leatherman Skeletool in my back left pocket, and usually a medium-sized folder in my right front pocket. Lately I've also taken to carrying small Spydercos in my watch pocket, and today I stuck another folder in my back pocket just for the hell of it, and I'm fairly certain that was excessive. But the more time I spend around here the less sure I am of that...

Always have a user and a bruiser. Micro Praetorian, Dragonfly II or Mini Samaritan etc. AND a Sheepdog, Satu or XM-18 3.5 etc.
