Hey, I have that belt, but mine has all of the extra attachments on it. I got it from wally world too. It is the pack that I used until I got my Camelbak Mule last Christmas. It's a great pack, and it holds a lot of stuff. I still keep it full of stuff just in case I get the urge to wear it out, but so far it gets caught up on my SOG Powerlock that's on my actual belt.

I did like the matching backpack as well, but I never got around to buying it. It's one of those things where you get your money's worth .

Robert,

Which pouch is that on the exterior of your pack between the bottle holders? looks line the admin pouch, but wasn't sure. I have a few maxpedition pouches hanging off my scout, but your bottle holder extravaganza looks interesting. I am also thinking about the mini long pockets.

The organizer pocket. Great for all the small things that end up in the bottom of the pack.

This is what I wear on day hikes. My wife wears a hydration pack. If we go longer I add more stuff. There's more pockets to fill. It weighs 5.5# as you see it, but feels like nothing with it on.

It was just easier to quote his vest pictures then to post my own as it would take some time to resize my photos for posting:D

Anyway mine just shows me in Yellowstone is all not the contents. But yeah I like the vest idea, especially if you have an all Nylon fishing vest with a mesh back you can keep cool. Or I have heavier duty vest for hiking that I bought at REI. It's low key alright. Even nerdy looking. Like a photographer or something. And can be used in conjunction with your small day pack. Here is where it really shines though. In Yellowstone I did a lot of driving around and parking really quick on the side of the road to snap photos or whatever. Getting in and out of car several times a day. I had a back pack for this but It gets tiring putting it on every time you get out of the car so I usually left it behind. Well I know I couldn't keep this up as the gear needs to be on you at all times if it's to do it's job when you need it. By the way someone was killed by a bear while I was there. A bear "Author" who was previously banned from the park but came back and got to close to a grizzly. Anyway back to topic. So I moved my survivor essentials into my vest pockets and never looked back. Now I could keep my gear on me at all times and never need an excuse to take it off:D Keep in mind this was early spring and the average temp was about 25-33d the whole time. It snowed a few nights and I was camping there. I only took off my vest to shower. I slept with it on and it never came off. It can't hold water, but it holds many essentials, doesn't scare sheeple like military spec gear/camo, and was comfortable and handy. It can also conceal a large fixed blade knife on a shoulder sheath instead of on your hip. Zipped up it better conceals a neck knife, and it's easy access encourages snacking, sun block, photos, etc. Although no one should ever be embarrassed/ashamed to proudly carry a quality knife on their hip. Anyway a vest works great if you wear it, and a backpack with water will make any day hiker/hunter prepared. Off topic maybe but can you carry a knife concealed in a National Forest? What about a National Park?

That's mine :D

Can you give me a link to more products like this?
Bulgarian made sounds nice, most outdoor stuff from other european companies is made in Vietnam or China. I'd like to see what this bulgarian company has to offer.

baldtaco-II - these are souveniers :D

Indeed amigo, but some like retro. [We've still got beard wearers here that smell like wet dog when the soaking wool jumper stretches round their knees], and I though this looked like yours -

Zombaio: I'm going to be in Troyan in mid September. Do they have a retail store? I'm going to fly to Sofia then drive to Troyan so may have some time to look around.
Thanks.

another great thing about the kifaru scout is the versatility. you can add to it like Robert H did or you can cinch it down smaller than the tailgunners by moving the straps to the loops on the top lid.

As much as I like the minimalist packs that are posted I am having a hard time believing some of them are actually holding the 10 essentials.

Did I miss something? What are the '10 Essentials' that we are trying to pack? I mean, food, water, fire, shelter, nav, signal, I'm 4 short. I feel like a moron for asking b/c I probably just missed a post somewhere.

Hey Kevin. What model is that survival rifle your carrying over your shoulder? I looked at the Henry Arms AR-1 and didnt like the feel of it.
