Spam. Lock it. Ban the spammer.

Posting information about new knives is bannable? He hasn't provided any links to where you can buy it, so what's the problem?

Information about new knives is greatly appreciated, and it's probably one of the reasons many people post here. Limiting the amount of people who are allowed to post about new knives would be pretty weird to do for a knife forum.

Its pretty cool, & to do 3 inlays in the frame must be a lot more work. wonder what this thing cost ? Its got to be the most high tec knife to ever come out of china...

Carson Tech makes some extremely well made folders; Evolution, Granite, etc. I think these newer knives (The one posted, and "Griffin".) cost around 400$.

Yeah that pocket clip has to go and that pivot looks like an owl's eye in profile....

When actual knife enthusiasts post about new knives it is great. First looks or new knife threads are great when they are done by average folks. Even better is when they are done with actual impressions of the knife. This is a person who is related to the company. This is a dealer or manufacturer. This account is in violation of the terms of agreement. To think otherwise would be naive.

That seems like a bit of an overreaction.

I'm interested in seeing new Carson models when they come out, and if this is advertising it's the mildest, most pleasant form imaginable--it's just pictures of the knife, after all.

Whether it's done by a knife enthusiast or a manufacturer, it has the same effect; it informs people of a new knife. As long as it's only information about the knife itself and pictures, then it's good. It'd be even better if Bladeforums had a New Knives board where manufacturers were allowed to post information about new knives, though.

Right! And that is the problem!

This was not done by a member who uses knives. This is advertising done in violation of the rules of this site. Plain and simple.

Directly from the man himself:

"The only members who may promote or display their personally built knives, their products, or services in the discussion threads, signature, home page listing or their user profile are "Manufacturers", "Dealers", and "Knifemaker/Craftsman/Service Provider".

Oh and to put it another way:

"BladeForums.com is supported by members who have paid subscriptions. These different subscription levels offer various perks and benefits. As such, only certain membership levels may advertise items and services for sale on this site. Below are some general guidelines as to what priviledges each membership has within this area. Put it another way, without the appropriate level of paid subscription, you may not advertise or sell on this site. Period. No excuses."

I would suggest everyone get familiar with the rules of this great place! They are there for a reason!

When the post only contains pictures and some information about the knife itself, what possible reason could there be to prevent anyone from informing people of new knives? I don't care who comes with the information if it doesn't go into pricing, special deals, or sounds like an ad, and I think the rules should reflect that; I'm interested in knives. That's why I'm on these forums. If a manufacturer or maker takes the time to post pictures of his or hers newest knife here, then that is greatly appreciated. A separate board where anyone is allowed to post announcements of new knives, as long as it doesn't go into pricing and such, would be great.

That's great and all but it is against the rules. Period. No excuses. Just like any maker, this person can pay the appropriate membership that will allow him or her to do what the rules say. How is that so difficult to understand?

But instead spam accounts like this do just enough to get their wares advertised but not enough to really piss off actual members. This is not a new game. We have very good actual dealers and manufacturers around here who play by the rules they agreed to. I hope the mods make the correct choice and shut this one down like all the others.

Hmmm...one post in a year. Curious.

Most curious.

To be honest, I'm with craytab on this. And it's not even about the rules. It sends me a red flag when this account has been up since 2013 and this is their first post.
