And how about a little dialogue? Pay for your account and talk to us like we are humans. Show that you are a valued member of the knife community. I don't think that is too much to ask, right?

Not at all! I came here for the knives, and stayed for all the banter with awesome people. Hell, half the money for this site comes from the guys in W&C, and they rarely even post about knives :p
 
So why isn't it shut down yet? Looks like the mods disagrees and are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. One post IS a little dubious but say that I posted pictures of a new knife, should I get banned? One post or not, I find it hard to believe that if it was an American knife he posted that anyone would make a stink about it right off the bat.

I think you hit the nail on the head. In the same situation with a post titled "New ZT Hinderer Collaboration" by a one post member I think the reception would be completely different...

I don't give a flying frack what company pulls this bull snot. The point here is that it is a company that is doing this. This is not a knife enthusiast. This is not some excited noob posting home shot pics of is or her knew blade. This is a shill account, with professionally done photos and diagrams of a knife they are trying to sell. To think otherwise is naive.

The rules are there for a reason. I follow the rules here. If others don't then that is on them and I sure will complain about it where appropriate. If the mods choose not to enforce the rules, again, that is on them and the owner. There are so many great dealers and manufacturers who pay for the right to advertise their wares on this site. This sort of crap flies directly in the face of those who follow the terms they agreed to when they paid for the right to be here.
 
The knife looks great, looks like a lot of work went into it. I've seen vids on YT of this knife being beaten on, and I'm impressed.

So then, did you report the op? It does little good to complain about it in the thread where a mod may or may not see it.
 
Again, I, and many others, are here to learn about knives. For a member to get all up in arms about something like this is odd, since it's up to the moderators; do you not want to hear about new knives? This isn't a sale thread, or a spam thread, it's simply a thread that was posted by a new member with pictures of a new knife. Whether or not that person is related to the company is not for you or I to say. I think the no advertising rules are more of a guideline; threads like this, that don't have any links or purchasing information, and are valuable to bladeforums posters or people interested in new knives, often get a pass.

Of course I let the mods know. Right after my first post. They are saying if he or she goes any further there will be action. I obviously disagree with that. This is a shill account meant to promote a product. That is clear.

And don't you think the folks who want to benefit from BFC without paying know that? Just enough info to get free advertising but not enough to be an out right spammer. Seems it is working since there are folks willing to defend such a practice and the mods aren't willing to pull it. I and others disagree and I have no problem explaining why.
 
All these people posting who apparently do not even realize that The Gallery exists, or who posts what there. No links and no prices without the proper membership level, that's about it, and has been that way for over a decade. Perhaps something has changed... but it doesn't look like it.

Since it's information about a new knife, on a knife forum, I don't see the problem, or why you wouldn't want to defend threads like this. I'm a paying member, too, and would encourage anyone to post information about new knives in the way OP did it (Pictures, name only.) - whether they are a producer, manufacturer, bladesmith, whatever. As long as it doesn't devolve General into an ad-zone, where manufacturers post deals, where to buy, etc., it's ok, but that is already strictly against the rules, and rightly so. It, fortunately, seems like the mods already realize this, and allow threads like this, that don't contain any links or pricing, to stay.

It is a fine line. If there were ten shill threads like this a day would you be fine with it? How about 100? 1,000? Would spark be fine with it? Some overseas manufacturer is getting free advertising on Spark's dime.

The photos come from a dealer's website. How is this not an Ad? There is no discussion of the knife. Simply a description and some photos from a dealer. I post pictures all the time. THAT I TOOK! In relation to knives I own and use. I have even been known to talk about said knives in said pictures. That is information. This here is a shill ad thread.
