Case 6.5 Bone Stag - ???

Form what I've seen of the Bonestag it varies to quite nice looking to just downright awful. I just ordered a Wharncliffe mini Trapper, so hopefully its not too bad.

Is there just as much variation in the thickness of the covers? From what I've seen online most of them seem fairly thick, not the first quality I would have wanted to imitate from real Stag.

Got my Bonestag Teardrop, 2-blade CV Wharncliffe today. Really happy with the blade combo and the size. It was a bit too shiny for me so I dulled everything down with well worn 600 grit paper and burnished it with some firm veg tanned leather to a satin sheen. While they do not look like stag to me I do like how they look and this they covers will age nicely in pocket and in use.

Loved the pic r8shell posted so had to have my own.

It looks like you got a good one, with well matched sides. Enjoy!

Nice Teardrop! I got my bone stag mini trapper in yesterday as well, and returned a teardrop back to Case. IMG_20180726_090224.jpg IMG_20180726_090255.jpg
I'm relieved that the covers aren't very thick, although mine looks like a color pencil sketch of what someone thinks stag looks like lol.

Case calls this Chestnut Bone Stag. Doesn't look very Chestnut to me. Has a pink cast.

I think that Case gets a little overzealous with the buffing wheel, leaving us with anemic, faded looking covers. This is common with their reds as well. While I really love Case I wish they would step away from the buffer, or at least dial it back a notch.

I took a soldering iron and burned the grooves, I like it much better now.
That turned out well!! The soldering iron was a good idea solphilos solphilos . I may have to give one a try. :)

I like the color the burning added. Nicely done. Here is my large 375 Stockman (2005 vintage). This has well matched covers front and back. Does not look like stag but I like the coloring. Should age well once it hits my pocket tomorrow.

I like the coloring too Heirphoto Heirphoto !! It looks aged now, so it should age very well! Keep us posted.:)

I have two bone stags and as another cover choice I enjoy them. Do they look like top notch natural stag? No, but they are pleasant enough and remind me that costume jewelry doesn't measure up to to the real thing but can be very attractive.
