Case bone sodbuster jr.

These are not new they make em every so often I had a stag CV sodbuster gave it to my dad. Case made a batch for Kentuckys bicentennial I've seen burl maple, stag and a couple different bone. They don't usually make many so if you want one I wouldn't wait around thinking about it too long.

I think it will be late spring early summer before they are available. Maybe a lil sooner, I'm going to defiantly pick one of these up.

A couple of quick pictures. I ordered one several months ago when I first got wind of them. I got it a week or so ago. Sometimes the Case edge can be a little toothy with some burrs. The edge on this one was sharp and smooth. Blade was centered, no gaps around the liners and bone paneling. When closing at the very end it did not have the snap to take the blade to fully closed. Generous amount of oil and some working of the action cleared that right up. The fit and finish is better than the yellow CV ones I would say. I have no problem with Case stainless. After all it is surgical :D. If I were King I would prefer CV and for my own taste, no shield. If I were King. If you are a sodbuster fan I think you would like this one.

That´s a great looking Soddie... I think, I think.... my poor wallet!

Thanks for the pics. (Somehow in the Case catalogues the knives just half as good as in person...)

Fine looking specimen...How thick is it in comparison to the yeller? Want to get an idea of how it will sit in the pocket...

That's a good looking knife! I just ordered myself a sodbuster jr in cv, it will be my first case in carbon steel and I am looking forward to it

It is very nice bone, especially for a shadow pattern, but I'm just not a sodbuster fan. Don't care for the tight radius belly, except for a dedicated skinning knife.

Don't have yeller at the moment, Toddwalla, but if memory serves this one is not as thick. Yeller is somewhat rounded and this one is more flat if that makes any sense.

These have been out for a bit, picked one up a few months ago. I got by off of the bay but I've seen a few online knife dealers selling them for a bit. I will try to get picks of this with the yellow but I will say it's extremely thin, much thinner than the delrin models. It's almost as thin as the carbon fiber handled sodbuster by Case, it's an easy pocket ride for sure. I do wish it came in CV but it's still nice with the stainless. I hope Case keep putting out new handled versions:D

Sure does, thanks for the reply. I might have to add it to the list.

I was undecided about how I felt when looking at the stock photo, but the picture Thomason posted has swayed me in it's favour. Nice knife. I can't help but think a sodbuster would look really nice in a primitive bone or American elk scales like GEC uses (not making this a GEC vs Case thing, I just like their American elk scales). Now what I'd really like to see for a sodbuster would be some nice peach jigged bone. Maybe it wouldn't look as good in reality as what I'm picturing in my head, but that would be nice. I really want an elk scaled soddie though, maybe I should send an email Case's way, begging:)

I may be the only one, but I just can't get excited about the Amber Bone. To me, it looks unfinished, and "scratchy," not up to the level of finish seen on the older Case knives.

...but, if they release one in red bone, I'll prob pick one up... and then take it to the belt sander to round it out a bit, so it doesn't feel so much like Case's current "slab-built" kinda feel.
(This was addressed in an older thread, I think, but to me their new ones are too square & boxy, compared to the older ones which have a much more organic feel to them. You can see the difference in shape if you compare them end-on.)
