Case/Bose Back Pocket

Absolutely! After carrying it in my back pocket for a few hours I realized why they made the slabs thin. It rides really well in the pocket, very comfortable to carry. Oh, and this is my first ebony scaled knife, I am lovin' it!

Got my 1stRun Ebony BP a couple of weeks ago and I'm perfectly satisfied with it. F&F are excellent, perfectly centered, good walk and talk, ebony nicely done.
For full disclosure, Annie at NGK (gotta love her) did pick the best one of the few they had.
It is a bit "different" , but I'm not sure thats a bad thing.

By coincidence, NGK is where I directed the MRS. Perhaps I need to ensure that Annie takes care of her too as I don't think she has ordered it yet:( You guys are definitely making me jealous though:thumbup:

I apologize for taking things off track.

No worries, you weren't being singled out, JC. Based upon the past few posts it seemed that a reminder was overdue...

Not one to give up easily I returned to my local Case distributor to look at the ebony version which just came in. After going through three red bone ones two weeks ago my expectations were not too high. Well, well, well, what have we here. A winner! He had two left when I got there and either would have been fine. I don't know if my stars were aligned better this time or if it was the old blind hogs and acorns thing. I will let the pictures speak for themselves where they can. I will add it was just a bit draggy but firm up to the 1/2 stop then firm and smooth to close. There is no blade play in any direction. Handles could have a better radius. Is it worth $80, you bet. I don't want to make this an in-depth review so on with the pics. That white one just happened to be along for the ride today and you know how they love having their picture taken.

If there's one thing I usually don't like about Case knives, it's that juncture between the blade and the spring. Why can't they leave those edges square..Still, that Ebony is quite a beauty, and it's getting harder to not want one of them.

Because they use tumble deburring/polishing - a number of blades go into a tumbler with the polishing medium. I actually like having those edges rounded (though maybe not quite so much of a good thing) -- I always (carefully) deburr/round the edges of the backsquares of any knife I'm going to carry since I hate having any sharp feeling edges on a knife but the cutting edge. I'd tell you what else I deburr/round on a knife I'm going to carry, but you'd start thinking I'm a bit OCD. :o

I agree with you 100%, sharper edges look much nicer. I believe they do a vibratory deburr/tumbling process following heat treat that removes scale and, unfortunately, sharp edges.

I tend to agree with zerogee on this one, many sharp tanged Queen Cutlery knives have felt uncomfortable in the pocket, or could tear a hole and go missing:eek: The do match up spring and blade though.

Oddly enough, CASE seem to achieve a masterful compromise on the Swayback Jack models I have and on a recent Texas Jack in stainless. The tangs are tumbled and not ripping in the pocket but the spring and tang match up tightly. Wonder how? But they do.

I know this thread is a few weeks old, but instead of starting a new one I wanted to add my first impressions of the Case BP.

IMO Case hit a home run with this knife. The fit and finish of my knife is perfect, but to be honest I've only gotten one lemon out of the 20 or so Case knives I've bought over the years.

It's the perfect size for me. I've promised myself that I'd throw the box away and carry this one.
Here's a few pics.
