I'm looking at buy a Case/Bose Norfolk and I see one site listing the weight from 4-5 ounces depending on handle material. Are these huge or something? Is that a accurate weight? What makes them so heavy? Thanks.

The Case/Bose Norfolk weighs 2.2 oz; not really unusual for a 3-3/4" two blade slipjoint.

The weights listed on the Case/Bose collabs, in my experience, seem to be always off. While it's stout, my '03 Dogleg Jack was listed as pretty heavy (I forget now) &, while stout, it wasn't nearly as heavy as listed.

If that'll be your 1st C/B collab knife, congrats. I only have 1 (Have tried, but never got another 2), but use it & am always impressed with it.

I'm not sure what the RC is, but my guess is that it'll be a little harder than 1095, but easier than D2.

While a little large for my tastes (I know I'm a sissy:o) the Norfolk is probably the nicest Bose Collab IMO. The ones I've seen in person were as close to a nice custom as you can get and better than many customs:thumbup:

I haven't seen many of the collaborations, but I think I would agree with this. The Norfolk is my favourite pattern in the series and maybe my favourite traditional pattern altogether. You should grab one before they dry up!

I've had five of 'em and they are terrific knives. The dogleg is the one that finds pocket time with me. Just a classic. And the fit/finish seems to keep getting better. (At least in my experience up to the lockback whittler which was the last one I've owned.)

I recently picked up a Norfolk and find it difficult to articulate how pleased I am with the knife. I have carried a Reeve Mnandi for a couple years as my EDC. I love the Mnandi and have high expectations for fit and finish. I looked at the Norfolk off and on for months, and hesitated getting one because I wondered about the quality of the craftsmanship. No intention to knock Case's quality, but it is generally less than Chris Reeves (as are most other production knife manufacturers).

I was blown away by the quality of the Norfolk and it has replaced my snakewood Mnandi as my EDC. The Norfolk is flawless, the color of the scales is incredible, the grinds are perfect, the fit and finish is excellent. I have only handled one Norfolk, so I can't say if the same is true for all of them, but others on this forum seem equally pleased.

I have to agree with Elliott, my Case/Bose Dogleg is THE ONE as far as I'm concerned. A favorite among favorites, it has such sweet lines and gorgeous antique bone. My stranded-on-a-desert-island slipjoint.

+1... If I know I'm going to really use my knife, that's the one I carry.

As for the OP, did you get one yet?

Not yet but it is definitely next on my list. After all these rave reviews from people that know what they're talking about, how could I resist? Hahah! Thanks guys.

I've had two colaborations and also the cataraugus gunstock in ats34. I thought the fit and finish were great and the edge bevels were good. It's easy to keep a knife sharp that comes sharp. I don't know about their 154cm, but they had a great heat treat for the ats34.

Weighed mine a few minutes ago while oiling the joints and checking the edges.
3.5 ounces. Pretty close to standard for a decent size two blade jack...at least the knives in my collection.

Yes, but some of sites list it at over 5 oz. & it just wasn't anywhere near that. Depending on the site, I've seen 5.2 to almost 6 oz. I'm not sure why they're so far off, but I was worried when I got mine & was waiting for it in the mail, lol.

I'm wondering if that's total weight with a pouch? Do they all come with pouches?

Yes. These are highfalutin' knives, doncha know? ;)

You will be thrilled when you get it. Trust me.
