Case Canoe

Case’s Canoe pattern is a great knife! Like others have said, I would search for a vintage one. The single spring carbon steel ones are my favorites:)

huh ... my two blade single spring Canoe with stagalon covers made by Camillus, is just as wide/thick/fat at the bolsters and covers as my two blade two spring canoes made by Case, Buck, and Rough Ryder with smooth or jigged bone or synthetic covers.
If there is a difference, you need a micrometer (which I do not possess) to measure it.

From what I've seen over the 5 or 6 decades I've been interested in knives, the "Single Spring knives are thinner than a double spring of the same pattern!" is a myth.

I remember way back in 2018 when Buck made the forum Knife, the Spey/Budding blade was eliminated, because too many bought into the lie a 3 three spring stockman is "too thick" during the blade poll.
Guess what?!? The two spring two blade Buck 301 Forum Knife is just as "thick" as my standard production 3 spring 3 blade 301 and 371's, and takes up just as much/the same pocket Real Estate!

For some reason, my 5 inch closed single blade Coke Bottle, Daddy/Grand Daddy Barlow, and other traditional single blade knives are not any thinner than my multi blade and multi spring traditionals ...

That's gorgeous! 🤠

I recently reconnected with some of my canoes..... When properly designed and manufactured, it is a wonderful pattern.... I've been enjoying carrying them in lieu of the more mainstream patterns..... I'd like to see GEC devote some effort to a run of 3-5/8" closed canoes.....

The canoe has always been among my favorite patterns, mostly because it carries in pocket so well. I recently obtained this 2000 in bone stag. Fit and finish is great, with the only exception being slight burrs on both kicks (presumably from their adjustment), which I took care of on the fine diamond. Snap is good, but not great. That said, I’m absolutely happy with it.

I have more than 50 examples of the canoe pattern, I think, but only 4 of them are made by Case. I like all 4 of them very much.

My first Case canoe was this 1975 jigged red bone model I bought on the Exchange here. I think it's my only single-spring canoe, and the only knife I own that I haven't used (yet). Love the iconic etch on the carbon steel blade!

The next Case canoe I got was a current model (in 2018), amber jigged bone and CV. It's a classic!

I won this rough black stainless Case canoe in a GAW in 2018 (thanks, Alan). My first experience with Case "gum fuddy" covers, and they've become a favorite synthetic cover material of mine.

My most recent Case canoe was a Christmas/birthday gift I got myself in December. Burnt amber bone, stainless, and I couldn't resist the quad-lined bolsters.
