858OT_Tex_2-1.jpg

Here is one more large stockman. a 4 5/8" Old Timer, from the 1980's. They still come up for auction on occasion, in both 1095 Carbon and Stainless SCHRADE+ versions. Schrade named this one The Lumberjack, 858OT.

MAAAAAN got the large stckman from case, wanut bone and script schield, MAN is that a beast, larger than the #53 gec
will post pics soon

regarding F&F the main sprint is a little proud of the clip point but it doeas not disturb and the sheepfoot it pretty asymmetrical (like it was "bent") to fit in the handle, otherwise it's a beast

If it has only two springs, then the sheepsfoot was bent (very carefully) -- that's how they manage to fit all that in there on two springs and have minimal empty space inside the handle well. It's called crinking -- it's part of the fine old cutlers skill of fitting 10 pounds in a 5 pound bag.

yep,
looking closely it looks to have been bent and not ground asymmetrically, wouldn't have fit the handle otherwise
the spey is pretty thick so it was the only way, GEC on the opposite size thins down the smaller blades

I posted pics in the Rough Rider thread for anyone considering an RR large stockman...the fit and finish is just amazing! the bone looks great, and I do like the long rifle sheild.
