Case Sway Back CV (update with knife arrival)

Great little knife. I EDC'd it for a month or so straight. I think the only downside for me is that mine has rusted quite a bit since I got it, even after oiling it up, I think the humidity is just too much for the CV.

It's the best Case (non-Bose Collab knife) that I own. I can't say enough good things about it.

Carl, you do not need to look for a CV swayback. I have one with your name on it......a gift as thanks for your contributions here. Send me your address and I'll get it headed your way.

Great gesture for a guy who has brought enjoyment to many of us with his wonderful posts.

I had to change my shirt after seeing this because the old one got soaked in drool. That Ulster is incredible.

What a class act. I applaud you, Jason!

Frankly, a knife collection is incomplete without one. I don't usually like to jump on band-wagons, but this time all the praise and applause is merited:thumbup:

I have the Bermuda Green version in stainless as well as the Chestnut carbon and both are finely made knives. These are not just collectors items or some nostalgia gimmick knife but proper users in their own right. It is true if you have very big hands that they may not suit you but that's the only reservation I can think of. Both steels sharpen up a treat:D

I think I need Bermuda Green Stainless Version too :D

Way to go, +1 on class act & thank you!

Carry mine in shirt pocket and actually use the pen blade the most; punches well above its weight.

I wouldn't hesitate Andy. It's easily one of the best value-for-dollar knives I've ever bought. Here's mine.

When I first got the swayback I kinda felt that it was a tad on the short side. I started carrying a barlow and really liked this size for EDC, that being said I have since re-evaluated my thoughts and think it is the ideal size as it seems to find its way into my watch pocket more times than not! In fact it has pushed my peanut to rarely carry status.:D

What's interesting is, the sway back and the peanut have the same length main blade, if I'm reading the spec's right on the Case wedsite. Two inches. That seems to be enough blade for most pocket knife chores. The main and big difference being the swayback has more handle to hang onto.

As far as pushing a peanut to rarely carry status, that seems like some sort of sacrilege.:D

Carl.

Not sure about the specs, but the blade length on my peanut is 2-1/16" tip to bolster and the SBJ is 2-5/16" tip to bolster. But my peanut is a Craftsman by ??? and not a Case. So, for me, the SBJ is bigger than the peanut everywhere more than anywhere else, but not by that much. Both of them act bigger than they actually are. Since that give away I won the peanut in, I've developed a love for both of these patterns - great knives.

Carl, funny how things run in cycles...its just a matter of time before I read one of your stories starring the "little giant" and I'l be Born again:eek::D

Oh my.
UPS lady just dropped it off about an hour ago. What can I say that has not already been said?
You all were right. I have talked about this little knife to my wife so much already that I gave her a headache.
The one thing I had my fingers crossed on was that it was an '09 stamp. I didnt even notice the date stamp. Was folding up the brown paper to put back in the box, and noticed the sticker...10/07/09...SWEET. I have this tiny thing about the single X. I only have two, so its not a deal breaker or anything like that. I just think it looks really cool.

I didnt think that I would like jigged bone. As I have none, that particular handle pattern just never struck me as appealing. I must say this is some good looking handles that Case has put on this knife.

I have been carrying around my mini trapper this week in anticipation of using a knife around this size. This SWJ sits right between the nut and mini trapper. I cant wait to slip this into rotation. I am already plotting at how I can acquire another one.

Time to go give it a good cleaning.

Thanks again for all the positive things said to steer us, that are lost, into the light.

Whew!!! That's great. We are glad you got a good one (haven't heard of anyone who hasn't) and us guys that were praising it so highly don't have to eat our words. I'm really impressed with that knife and I want to get one of the PW red bone gents in stainless to go with it, but I may just have to go with another jack in some other handle. I really love mine. Maybe I'll just pick up a spare just like it; it's a great knife.

It's a great knife indeed. I've been carrying a Spyderco Sage1 for a while and was totally satisfied but after getting this swayback I'm going to have to make room for both. Maybe the Case can ride in my watch pocket. It's just beautiful in every way, very functional and fit and finish is excellent. Not to mention I love it when steel patinas.
On another positive note, it's led me to eat more apples the last couple of days. :)
