Case Swayback Gent CV.

My herd is growing. The Chestnut CV that I got last week is a winner. If I really pick at it, I guess I would like it a little darker. The blade is centered and very sharp. It is flush in both half stop and open. Great W&T.
I couldn't ask for more.

hamsco hamsco Atiger Atiger Railsplitter Railsplitter those are all so gorgeous! I may have found my raison d'etre: searching for swaybacks! I definitely should get one of the new chestnut bone CV "gents" (which they are now just calling a "swayback") to go with my two chestnut bone CV jacks. And then there is the search for that blue model... Well, later this year we'll be passing through northern Indiana where there is a big Case dealer so I'll definitely need to stop in to see what they have. (I got my Case Select Wharncliffe mini-trapper there last summer.)

Carried a jack today and used it to slice my Wendy's Single in half -- just because it was there. ;)

I had a sea green SBJ in SS and lost it on a beach a few years ago, when I read they were going to be releasing these again I had my heart set on an SBJ in carbon steel, sad that they are only releasing a single blade. Oh well, at least it gives me something to hunt for. That's half the fun of this madness anyways LoL.

Case has a new deep red jigged bone version out in CV  If they are as good as the chestnut bone versions (in photo) they will be nice. BTW, I have three of the chestnut brown ones..

Mine is almost perfect in every regard. Centered blade, no gaps, back spring flush in all three positions, just so well made!!!
The only issue I'm having is the snap open is a little weak. It was very tight when I first got it, I'm hoping it will eventually break-in. But, I've washed it twice, flushed it many times, and open/closed it over a thousand times, and it still won't snap open with authority like all my other Case knives.

If it's too tight there's not a lot you can do. Sometimes I've had a tiny bit of brass come out months later that I figured was causing some drag. I don't mess with my knives (due to my lack of skill) other than taking off a tiny burr or some other easily repaired issue.

Thanks. I do feel a tiny bit of grind/roughness in there. I'll keep working on it and see if I can get it worked out, I do like the knife.

Thanks for the heads up on the new release. I've been looking for a CV Swayback Gent but didn't want another in Chestnut Brown.

I actually ordered a gent in stainless yesterday (amber bone) and saw the new red gents in CV. They look very red, like fire engine red.
I've been wanting a gent for a while now. Looking forward

I liked the look of the single blade so I got a red pocketworn Gent. Felt too slim so I ended up giving it to my Father In-law. By that time the SBG in CV was nowhere to be found at a reasonable price. A little while later I ran across a Bonestag 6.5 Gent with CV steel. Thanks to the swell of the bonestag it felt great in-hand. Sadly I no longer had the money. Now those too are hard to come by, and pricey when you do find them. No worries, not like I don't have a knife till I find one.

The red is almost a strawberry, mine is very light along the edges and near the bolsters. A solid knife with no blade play, decent snap, centered, and very close to perfectly flush in all three positions.
