Case Tested XX 1920 to 1940 era

Thanks David, I get lucky occasionally,
 What a beautiful trio of old Cases!
But getting one of those for less than a new one is just icing on the cake!!:D:thumbsup:

Thanks Warren, they really do have great action, even the ones with worn down blades:thumbsup:

Nice trio rob there not easy to find with nice full blades!! I love the snap on the old tested knives

True Paul, it's one of many reasons I like old knives, lots of character and soul in the old knives.

One of the many great things about buying old knives is sometimes that can happen!

New picture of 3 posted earlier in this thread. 3 different shields, 3 different covers.

I’ll bump this thread to showcase a new (old) Case I recently found.

I paid the princely sum of $5 for this knife, which, admittedly, had ugly red surface rust on the blades. Judging by the wear on the bolsters and composite covers, and the pristine blades, it was carried some, used for nothing, and sharpened never. If not for having been left in a wet atmosphere more recently in its life, it would be in almost new condition, which is kind of amazing for something made between 1920-1940.

I’ve cleaned up the rust as best I could with 0000 steel wool and WD40, and I used the buffing wheel with extreme care to polish some corrosion off one of the bolsters and clean up some pitting on the backsprings. I’ll probably work on the rust a bit more another day, there’s one bad spot near the tip of the clip blade, but in general I feel good that I’ve stopped the deterioration.

The grinds and swedges on the blades are something to behold, the edges are still sharp, and the pulls are firm and snappy. This knife could teach some of today’s knives something about walk and talk.

waynorth waynorth Thank you for re-igniting this thread, a seam of riches! Both the serious collector and novice will be impressed, so much to revel in :)

Picked this beavertail up recently, the rust was active so I shut it down. The pitting is very light, better than I expected.
Here it is out of the box.

I couldn't get the glare off the blades without cutting the handle out of the picture.

Nice full blade with a flat grind which I prefer over the saber grind. Between that and the crisp old green bone I had to have it.
Had to include this quote of an astounding knife, the restoration was impeccable and the bone shows the excellence of CASE jigging during this era. Masterpiece!

Thanks, Will

I just went through this thread the other day to find an answer to someone asking about his 1920-1940 case that had an obscure tang stamp,I was able to find same tang stamp in this thread.and it is an interesting thread.
