Case Trapperlocks, whose got 'em?

OK, I had a chance to fondle one of these today. And, while it wasn't in the handle material I wanted, I really liked the overall feel and heft of this knife. The blade was easy to open and the linerlock wasn't sticky. I didn't mind the blade was not FFG. I wouldn't mind finding one of these in the G-10 handle material (EDIT: Found one on the Big River store, holy moly! I didn't realize it was over $100. LOL)

How do you like yours? What are your observations, likes and dislikes? Post up a pic if you got one. Help me like this style even more.:D

ummm...those are one-hand openers with thumb studs. Made by Case or not, they belong in General.
Moving there now.

I, whose gots one. ;)

I also have me a yella handled trapperlock. Locks up tight as a drum with no blade play at all.

Usually I don't chime in on threads like this but mine has actually seen quite a bit of time in my pocket, and I've even used it to dress and skin a couple of whitetails. The CV blade takes and holds a good edge.

I have a red "pocket worn" trapperlock that has a wiggly blade that I've never carried and really need to send back to Case.

I would advise you to handle the model you want to purchase if at all possible. Have fun shopping!

Thanks for posting those pics deskil. I really appreciate it. Your trio looks very nice.

Thanks for chiming in Kiteman72. I will be straight forward and tell you all the Trapperlock wasn't even on my radar until today. I was looking for a Large Stockman, but saw this in the case and I had to try it out. I handled the amber bone one today, and I dang near bought it. But I'm new to buying traditionals and haven't quite warmed up to bone or stag just yet. But the feel of the TL and its operation just made me smile.

Also, I was not expecting such a tight lockup with this particular knife after handling many other liner locks; I was pleasantly surprised by it. The blade was a bit thinner than I normally like, but that's something I have come to expect from traditional knives.

So, the TL....to me, screams user and I'm glad to hear it can hold up to tough jobs.

Thanks for moving this away from the intended audience. Silly me, I should not have asked for dislikes. So, that's at least one who doesn't like the thumbstud.

(Mental note: No pics or discussion of any kind related to TL's in traditional. Got it

What makes you think the intended audience isn't here?

I have one in bone.

It is very useable, one of my favourite carry knives. I'm using it this evening. Mechanically, mine is perfect. Design wise, it encompasses the things I like best about trads- slender, thin slicers, with comfy handles. The modern aspects are well done too- the pocket clip suits me perfectly, opens, closes, locks easily.
An excellent knife.

You guys are making me want one of these. That's the way things work around here, eh?

Hey Folks, brand new to the forum (first post actually) but have been visiting for quite a while. I love case knives and in particular CV. Did that stag Trapperlock come in CV? Good to be here and to learn more and hang out in the "Traditionals" forum.

I'm pretty sure it comes in CV. Check out Knifecenter, they have a good range.
Welcome to BF.

Case does currently make several of the Trapperlock versions in CV steel, though only in jigged bone. They made a stag-handled version in their Stag Rancher CV family which is not currently in production, but you might still be able to find them.

Thanks for the info. I did get the Stag Rancher Trapper in CV. I loved how they engraved the CASE logo on the handle...no shield to worry about. It does look like they made a Stag Rancher Trapperlock at one time. Great looking handles. Thanks again.

The yellow Delrin Trapperlock is also in CV.

I cracked under all of this pressure, and pulled the trigger on a Trapperlock in sawcut antique bone. Stainless blade with clip. And a Case belt sheath to complete the ensemble.

Good catch, sorry I missed that one.

I've got two of the TLs - the one pictured in smooth chestnut bone, which has the clip, and one in red jigged bone w/ sloped bolsters, without the pocket clip. Both in SS. Rather nice knives to be honest, though I almost never carry them. The saber-ground blade is a bit sturdier than the typical Case trapper main clip blade. I find when I am in the mood for a knife that size I usually go for a regular Case Trapper or Large Stockman. Nothing against the Trapperlocks, more of a symptom of having too many knives so I don't get around to all of them.
