Someday someone is going to be holding this knife 50, 100, 150 years from now and wonder what the back story is. In about 20 years me or my daughters will be able to tell stories about the knife my Grandad carried in WWII 100 years before. At the time I did not know what I had, it was a gift from a fatherly mentor and friend. It was new old stock, unused. In hindsight I sometimes wished I had not used it, but then, aren't knives meant to be used? Underlying guilt had me debate to find donor blades for it and have it rebuilt, yet that would not have been right, either.
I still carry it with much deference.
