Nice, I miss my riding days. I used to race at Bellows field in HI when I was stationed there.

As for the outdoors, it's starting to get warm here and the insects are going to be ruthless this year!

I'm just no good at taking pictures when I'm in the middle of food prep and cooking, but made some great breakfast burritos over a fire put in the Lodge skillets Saturday morning.

I also want to send a shout-out to the good folks on here who encouraged me to season the pans.
It was uncharacteristically damp Friday night, but we left everything out not thinking much of it.
Next morning, all I had to do was wipe the beaded-up dew drops out of my pans, and off my vinegar-patina'd 11, 15 & 5.
My camp-mate's cast-iron dutch oven (which made a fabulous cobbler the night before) had a generous layer of rust on the interior. :(

Looks good. My question is how long does it take to get the fish taste out of the pan???

My guess it depends on the fish. Trout is so mild if has know effect on the cast iron . As long as its fresh :D

So, funny this thread popped up, Grandma just gave me one of her cast iron skillets to get it cleaned and reseasoned. She hasn't cooked in close to 10 years and in that time the seasoning she had built up has been scrubbed and soaped off :'( So she asked me to fix one skillet and I was STOKED to do it.

Today I baked the rest of the seasoning off and started anew.

For you all wondering, like me, what skillet it is.

carbon sheet steel, not cast iron -- but it seasons the same and is used over fire -- even on the stove. ;)

spicy boudain, mushrooms, onions, and barley all simmered together in red ale.

Looks delicious! I assume you washed it all down with some red ale?

Thanks to the amazing generosity of dear sweet Gutsy, for the last year I have been using this wonderful piece of cast iron goodness.
