More later. Hope you like these!!

Trent: No, that's a premium stockman pattern (usually just called a premium stock) -- serpentine handle + rounded bolsters + clip main blade = premium stockman. A standard stockman pattern is much the same, except it has squared bolsters.

I never knew that difference between premium ans standard. thanks
Kerry that ebony is outstanding.

Here's my token cattle.It's a very well made knife.pinned shields and tight as a drum.It's one of those "warehouse finds".

Haw haw!! I have often wondered what would happen if someone caught me doing a quick edit!! Now we know!!
I guess you wondered for a sec what the heck I was on about!!

Those are absolutely gorgeous folks, I don't have the pleasure of owning one but just seeing yours is more than reason to work on getting one for myself...

Sunburst

I always wonder about my warehouse find one. Does anyone have info on these?The main blade has a modern etch, and it looks like a lot of the belly of the blade was sharpened off. You can see a small curve at the tip of the blade. Other than that it looks almost custom it's so well made.did they find knife parts and just clean and assemble them? there is a pinned shield on both sides also that seems odd.

It seems there are some "Schatts" in existence, sunburst?!?! Fit right in with your others.
Here's a Queen made Queen City;

And a Primble 4 blade;

A Case XX redbone;

And some real nice Testeds;

Some of the Testeds have milled liners!

Thay are/were another of Jim Parker's marketing ploys, navihawk. B*llsh*t storey, but a well made German knife. If they had been marketed for what they actually are, there value would be greater, IMO. But they are good carbon steel knives nonetheless! I have 2 or 3, and I like them!!

Thanks Waynorth.Do you happen to know the German Manufacurer? Those tested Cases in your last photo...how old are those?Are they Queen made or old old?

Navihawk, the Case Tested stamping was used before Case XX. Pre-1940 I have been told.

After staring at them it was stupid of me to ask if they were queens.You can tell the age on them especially in the quality.I get surprised sometimes, I always used to be under the assumption that NYK was "the" best knife made in the USA, but all these knives you guys come up with dispell that theory. Where do you find such pristine condition knives?

Usually they come from other collections; older guys retiring, or needing money. It's great when they appear, unrecognized in someones estate or the like. I got few very near mint HJs from estates. One was sitting at the back of a drawer for 30 some years. A couple of my Cattle knives came from a retired guy selling his Case (and others) collection at the Oregon show, 2-3 years ago. The guy was blowing out about 1000 knives he had collected over 40-50 years!! All mint or nearly so. I spent everything I could wring out of my bank account on that guy's knives.

Beautiful Chapman to kick off the thread, Kerry. Cattle knives are one of my favorite patterns. I used to collect the pattern, and I can't wait to get to my own computer and post a few!
Nice examples everyone! Sunnyd, yours is like a hybrid stockman-cattleman; Nice knife!

I believe that Chapmans were made by Schrade too...based on the dna of the few that I have seen.

Here is an unusual one, a six blade sample demonstrator from Kutmaster

That thing is wild with all those blades. If well done the way blades lay into a handle is a work of art.Whats that one with the two pins underneath it?

It's interesting to see that most three blades have one nail nick on the front of the blade, for righties anyways, and the other two blades have the nicks on the opposite side. There are a few with two on the main side and one in back. Only that pPrimble forur blade has all the nicks on one side, except the punch.
Waynorth, do you have a picture of that knife closed looking on at the front?
Also what does the Kutmaster say stamped on the blade? Property of US.....?

Once again Charlie, you have the finest examples of Case Cattle patterns here. Wonderful variations. Perfect scans.. I love the Cattle pattern. I wish I owned several more of the vintage ones. The ones that are in great shape but saw some pocket time and had a bit of use from a bygone era..

Since navihawk brought it up, I thought I would list a scan here of vintage Case stampings that I received from W.R. Case about 10-11 years ago to help determine the actual date of the examples of knives we have here..

Looks like 1920-1940 for the series of knives asked about by navaihak.

Sure Navihawk, no sweat..

I have the latest tang stamps from Case as well, from 2000 to 2009.
