Cayanne Pepper?

The EMT who responded when I was in a motorcycle crash stoled my Knife. I saw him do it. It took a year and cost me many times what the knife was worth, But I got the knife back, An apology from the FD and the EMT got a Little time off with out pay.

A doctor in the hospital told me "why should I care if another Biker looses his leg". I still have the leg. The Doctor is very worried about my Lawyers

Apparently they mistook me for some one that could be intimidated.

My point is, we're dealing with people. When I walk into a 7-11, I don't expect the cashier to be a member of Greenpeace, The Sierra Club, Handgun Control, Inc., or anything else. I expect to be dealing with a person and I know how people are. When I walk into a hospital, now, I feel the same way. Sure, the stakes are higher than dealing with a 7-11 cashier or a Wal-Mart drone but it's still just another roll of the dice.

This OFFENDS some people in the extreme, one begins to wonder why they read in insults and whatnot about their profession when the exact opposite was stated.

Other people, in other areas of medicine, would say they had a guilty conscience.

Don I hope I didn't offend you or any one else, that was never my intent.
Its easy to get passionate about something when you have been through some rough times. Since I had my accident I have met some people in the medical community that are real asses, and some others that are the finest people you could ever meet.

Mike,

I'm not offended at all! I'm really amazed that some people have taken offense at what I have said actually. My first remarks in this thread were about wound closures and it's rather funny that all of the med people that erupted in this thread never considered that. The secondary or perhaps tertiary thing I said was a flippant, off-hand remark making fun of the cayenne pepper cures everything sort of thing by referring to it as "Heaven's Gate" nonsense (members of that cult gave themselves cayenne pepper enemas in preparation of "shedding their vehicles" and that sounds pretty nutty to me and in line with what was posted about "tincture of cayenne," etc.).

I said that modern medicine was one step above this sort of thing, it's witchdoctoring - how about shamanism? Less offensive? Is it "science?"

Just yesterday I took my wifey to the doctor. She is seeing a new doctor, having been to my doctor for several years now. She is asthmatic and my doctor was treating her for asthma and early arthritis from a car wreck she had years ago. He had her on albuterol and Advair inhalers. Advair Discus inhalers are incredibly...outrageously expensive. With a $1,300.00 deductible on a Blue Cross Plan, it's pretty hard on us. Her BP was in the acceptable range. She was taking Ibuprofen for the arthritis as needed.

New doctor yesterday noticed a slight increase in the blood pressure, told her to take "Tylenol Arthritis Formula" instead of the Ibuprofen because not only is Ibuprofen contraindicated for asthmatics (and we DID know that) the new doctor says it is going to help bring her slightly elevated BP back down again. Also takes her off the expensive WITCHDOCTOR BREW B.S. Advair because it, also, acts to elevate BP and "she didn't like it." Back on a steroid inhaler. The new doctor is an Internist, I would assume a more learned doctor? WHO KNOWS?

The point I'm trying to make is, if this stuff were really "science," that wouldn't have happened. What we are talking about here are OPINIONS that parade as and are given the weight - respect and gravitas - of "science."

What it is clearly NOT science when two highly educated doctors can have differing opinions like that. If what I said is NOT true, then was the last doctor trying to kill her or was he in the pocket of the Rep who gave him bennies for pushing Advair or WHAT?

I don't think that, I'm just trying to put forth ideas. What do I think? Being a doctor is a lot about art and science going together hand in hand. If it's not, then it has possibly been totally corrupted by the Reps and Companies they represent, etc. The new doctor said there have been problems with Advair for years and she doesn't like it. Is she wrong or was she over-reacting? No telling. We, as consumers, we need to read and research and make our own choices and that's really what this thread has been about.
