CC just got charged for the CF Military M390!!

For those interested, a couple of cellphone pics of the M390 blade alongside the M4 blade.

Anyone know what the extra hole is for in the M390 blade ?

Not sure but it feels like it has a stronger detent now. Maybe that's what its for but that's a total guess

Deposit payment. If you have paid for the actual price of the knife you are fine. Just some of the deposits didn't show up in their computer system.

But they are honoring the pre-orders even though they didn't get the deposit?

My WAG would be the same/similar. Potentially, a hole for a jig or fixture, possibly, similar to the "extra" hole in the CRK Sebenza scale.

I would guess its a part of a new machining process. But I've been wrong once or twice before.

Somebody, Please have an extra!!! Oh and sell it to me, I don't want to miss this one.
I've seen a few up on the exchange already but for like $300-$350. I don't think anyones that desperate to get their hands on one but than again you never know.

Posted this in another thread...take a look at the handles, especially the side that's only showing in the cutout. What we've got is a blade swap with the CPM-M4/Ti+G10 KW limited. The M390 blade is a very nice swap, but all the usual warnings apply - you risk your warranty and maybe your fingers, don't do this unless you are sure you know what you're doing with a blade swap on these or any knife. (Sorry, gotta say that... ;) ) Check the pic below. It works great, locks up safely. The blade from my other M390 Military did not lock up safely. :( If you do this, be careful.

Very Nice JNewell! That makes the perfect edc Military now. You don't have to worry about corrosion but you still get the amazing edge retention. Score!

Yeah, I was thinking of doing the same with my Ti mili (after I get it back once again :p). One question, Why did you keep the g10 on the knife instead of putting on the cf?

Not that desperate but I DO want one :/

I'll take one off your hands! :D

I've mentioned before, but I didn't get to order one, so if anyone has an extra or doesn't like it, PLEASE let me know!!!!!

Yikes. :D I will tell you - almost guarantee you - that the prices you are seeing now are only going up, probably sharply, over the next few months. Unless you find someone who passes one along at cost (which is possible), these prices that you are seeing now are the "good old days bargain prices that I wish I'd bought at." :(

Here's some more pics of the Ti/G10/M390 hack. :D Again, this it totally at your own risk (fingers, warranty, etc.)

John, I must ask, what reason was the one M390 blade not safe in the Ti/G10 handle. Too much play, frame lock moved too far over, not enough? It looks sweet and you've got a CF and M4 combo too.

Not enough. It just did't lock up at all. Both of the M390s I've got have very early engagement but they do have full engagement of the locking leaf. The first blade I swapped into the Ti/G10 handle set started to engage but you could unlock the blade with a single finger pressure, forget any real pressure on the spine. The second blade works fine, although as you can see it's still on the early side, but the M4 blade was (by eye, not but instrument) the same.

Safety safety safety safety safety. I've grown attached to my fingers. Blade swaps need to be done carefully by careful people if bad results are to be avoided...yes, I know I am a broken record. I have had too many finger/hand injuries over the decades... :(

Safety is definitely of the utmost importance. At least you got one of them to work. How does the M4 lock up in the CF handle?
