Celebrities, Famous people and knives

I remember hearing that that guy who played the human in the Lord of the Rings movies really liked the sword they provided him with, and would wear it around town during breaks in the filming.

That's right. His name is Viggo Mortensen who plays Aragorn in The Lord Of The Rings.

I think that TV writer Mike Judge is into knives. I'm willing to bet that "King of the Hill" is the only show on TV where you will hear a character say the phrase "serrated sheepsfoot"...:)

And now that we have a decent list of who is into knives it begs the question, are any of them on BFC or other forums? I doubt that we would ever even know if one of them was here.

I'm sure there are at least several celebs here. They have cyber names like many(most) of us. I'm assuming this is because they wish to keep their celebrity status in this forum a private matter. With few exceptions, we are all equals here.
This is something celebs rarely get to enjoy these days. You know, just being one of the guys, hangin' out and chatting knives. Under a cyber name, they can freely mingle with everyone here on BFC without having to live up to their status as celebs and possibly being asked inappropriate and/or embarrasing questions. Under their cyber names they can just be knife nuts like the rest of us here.
This is why I'm not expecting any celebs to step up to the plate and reveal their identities in this thread.

It is rather intriquing to think you may be swapping knife talk with the lead singer for Aerosmith, a comic genius, or even Rambo hisself though, huh?:p

All the best,
Mike U.

Owen Nolan of the San Jose Sharks is into boar hunting so he's got some interest with the knives.

I hear tell that O.J. Simpson ...

Not really--check this out from the 1996 civil trial:
(transcript at http://simpson.walraven.org/oj_depo1.html)
Q: Well, how many did you have, outside of the Swiss Army knives, as of June 12?
[It turns out OJ used to promote Swiss Army knives and got lots of them for free]
A: I have no idea.
Q: More than 10?
A: I doubt that.
Q: More than five?
A: I don't know.
and further down:
Q: Did you have any other knives in the residence, outside of the garage?
A: I had one in particular that I do know of.
Q: Describe that knife.
A: It was sort of a jackknife, but it didn't have a spring.
Q: What do you mean by " jackknife"?
A: You know, when you used to push it and the knife jumps out.

No, I think it's safe to say he's not one of us. :D

And please don't forget American's First Knife Collector, President George W. Bush. Traditional folders are his thing. And yes, he carries every day. RHIP.

Steven Segal is a knifecollector.....interesting. Does anyone know what kind of knife he uses in the "On Deadly Ground" movie?
It is about half-way through the movie, he uses it to cut some wrapping of some C4.

Misque -- you sure seem to know a lot about celebrities. It seems a little odd Mike -- or should I call you Stallone!? :D

Abe Cunningham, drummer for The Deftones, collects knives. His collection even inspired a Deftones song called "Knife Party".

Front man Chino Moreno's comments on the song:
"Knife Party," was inspired by a bizarre drunken party on the band's tour bus. Moreno says that drummer Abe Cunningham collects knives--"like stilettos and butterfly knives"--and distributed them to band members one night. "Abe busted out all his knives and everybody on the bus had a knife and was dancing. It was the stupidest thing, and everybody was laughing about how silly the whole thing was," says Moreno. The knife party became a band joke, and months later, Moreno decided to use it in a song. "I made up this fake scenario of some kind of underworld society of knives, people who just get off on these erotic fantasies," he says. "Or something like that. An 'Eyes Wide Shut' kind of thing."

Hmm, underworld society of knives... erotic fantasies... kind of reminds me of Mayo owners.

Alan Alda collects Busses, Striders, and just about anything big, scary, and sharp.

When asked in a recent interview what his favorite knives were, he replied, "I really like the ones with built-in knuckles on them. They do extra damage."

Now wouldn't that be a trip? :p

Pink likes knives too :)

And since we're at it, I read that Laura Prepon likes to shoot AR's
