Celebrity Death Match -- Gemini vs Ash

The TGLB is the ONLY knife I have ever ordered a 2nd of....Just in case I could no longer get another.

It is also the only knife I'd die before parting with. Never have a known a knife to inspire me to pay $250 for a custom sheath, this is also the blade I wore to my wedding and cut the wedding cake with. During Thanksgiving it is my Turkey knife and for Christmas it cuts the Prime Rib. My family knows that only the TGLB will be used for holidays and special occasions.

Dang. Now I want one again.

Reading some of these TGLB post's makes me want to get one more - at least. Perhaps an original TG - to experience the contrast. Have a great weekend, all...;-)

I, for one, don't understand the point of comparing two completely functionally different knives by objective criteria. Comparing the two in terms of which one "likes" the best, a subjective comparison, does make sense. But as far as objective criteria, one might as well try to compare Busse's AK47 to the Team Gemini. I don't think that anyone or most anyone would argue that both the TG and the ASH-1 are both very fine knives, regardless of the difference. Generally a full quillon or crossguard is primarily a "fighting" knife. Which is not to say that it cannot have secondary functions. I have seen the TG defined as a Kabar on steroids and I would certainly agreed with that in large degree. The ASH-1 is more of a generalist knife or one to do many tasks though probably not as well as a knife designed to a single task. There are certainly situations where I would much prefer to have my TG on hand and others where I would prefer one of my ASH-1's. I have used both the TG and the ASH-1 on chopping tasks and I do not see that the TG has any substantive advantage over the ASH-1. I would say that the fatty ASH-1 has an advantage in prying; the TG has an advantage in slicing. It's really about applying the right tool to the task at hand.

ASH-2? What is this mythical beast of which you speak? Spec's, differences from the ASH 1, variations?

Lil' Foo. I have one of those also. Apparently only ten made. Eight more out there somewhere...;-)

TGLB if you're all about that silly Kardashian vanity nonsense ---

ASH-1 if you want a mean workhorse like Clint Eastwood

;)

Gee, let me think about which I would prefer to be on:D

I have both and like the TG but I love me some Ash. The Ash is more slicy (mine is .22) and it bites deep when chopping. I have to admit, both are iconic looking knives.

All about the ASH-1 here. Have owned 5 TG's of one type or another and MANY ASH's. The ASH-1 is a pure IMHO the BEST everyday GP use knife and is perfect for many chores. One of Jerry's best designs!!!
Looking forward to see a Production run on the ASH-2

You carried a TGLB in your wedding? That's awesome.

I have to say that an ASH is what lead me to Busse. It was a custom shop one I saw in one of the Busse ads in Blade magazine. Then I got on there website and saw the TGLB. Both knives do it for me.
