Well, now I am home from the show. I had a blast my self!! How can you not have fun with Barker, Bradshaw, Fitch, Crowell, Ruple and Tomberlin.
The cutting Demo was kick ass. I saw Fitch attempt 16 water bottles in one swipe. One of them got away wounded and one got away untouched. The other 14 were cut in half.
It was cool to see the guys invite some youngsters to cut rope and water bottles. My wife even cut a water bottle.
As far as knives that I made it home with, they include the leopard wood Tomberlin for my wifes collection which I will not recoup that money since it is going into her personal collection which is not for sale unless you 2 1/2 times her money on it.
Picked up a Bradshaw self lock in stag.
Also got one from Dean. It was a stag California hunter.
One other that I traded for was a cool litttle folder from a long time guild member named Peterson.
I hope to send Roger some pics in the next day or two that will show knives and the cutting demo.
This was the Eighth year that my wife Nichelle and I put this show on. Our biggest reason for doing this is for the opportunity to be able to have memorable times with all of our friends that are involved in knives. So far we have accomplished this every year. Our friends are what keeps us wanting to do another show.
I know that now a days you can accomplish a lot of things in our hobby of knife collecting/buying/selling. BUT there is nothing that will replace the opportunity to be able to enjoy the times that can be spent with the friends that are involved in this business.
In my opinion this is the one thing that will keep knife shows alive.
Yeah it costs a helluva lot more to travel to shows and buy knives, but it costs money to do just about anything in this world that is worth while.
Here is a list of award winners at the show
Harvey Dean - best fixed blade
Bill Ruple - best folder and best of show
Best Display was Claude Eddy with his CASE 88 patterns
Best antique knife was won with a 5291 J pattern case.
