Ceramic Sharpeners? Which one?

Hi Joe!

(knocks head on keyboard) Of course! No wonder I can't find it here at BF! I had it bookmarked already, until I lost the bookmark for whatever reason (don't ask). Thanks for the info! As of now, I've already written three replies over here, and KF is still loading because I told it to list for topics over the past year! hehehehe!!

PS. Well, if the listing doesn't work, would it be a bother if you can give us a quick rundown on how it goes?

Thanks again.

Dan,

Don't know about that belt thing. I use a piece of tooling leather and rubbed the rouge into it. The longer you have it, the more times you put rouge on it, it seems to work better each time.

Jeweler, nope! Work for the East Ohio Gas Company - C.N.G. during the week and at D.I.Y Home Warehouse on the weekends.

No, not a plug here

Take care,

Danny,

good timing. There's a small discussion on the Apex at knifeforums.com in the Knife DF&T forum. You won't have to list topics for the past year this time around! It's fairly close to the top.

Mark,

No problem with the plug there.. hehehe..

I'll try it on the old leather belt, and see if it can work just as well.

Thanks!

Joe,

I'm on it! Seems like KF is pretty slow, even with the T3 connection they have. I'll check and see if I can get myself sold to the Apex too.

As for now, I'll consider the Sharpmaker as the v-type sharpener to get, once the 204 comes out, that is.

PS. Joe, I've already read your article on the Sharpmaker. You're using a 6"x2" DMT stone.. Would the smaller DMT that's used for the Aligner Kit work just as well for that purpose?

Donald - Thanks for the URL, I found it already, but I'm sure the others who would be interested in the thread can look this one up.

Burke - Would *that* be great.. hehehe..

Since I'm an advocate of the manual sharpening technique, I bought myself some Spyderco Profiler Sets. These are the same ceramic sticks found on the Sharpmaker, but these are for manual honing.. Found them to be pretty good, too! Though I wouldn't wanna give these to the beginner... we have the Sharpmaker for that.
