CF Civilian?

what i had in mind was something VERY subtle. not like, for instance, the BF native (wich BTW i wouldnt be without) with its large engraving.

maby it sould be a substutition to the blade material stamp on the back of the base of the blade. anyone having any doubt as to the quality of the steel used wouldn't be likly to ever see one of these anyway.

i understand that not everyone would be intrested in such a thing, so keeping it to a minium would be nice. james seemed to have a fair intrest in this project coming to light, and only he could have refered to such a tool as a bagle slicer, hence my idea.

i should expand that i actually really like the look of the gloss finish on the CF. for its intended use, the civillian is a limited use beast as it is (thak god), so scratching and wear really wouldnt be an issue. as far as its useability (grip, etc)- thats what the G-10 version is for.

also ferret, what do you think of the idea of having a polished blade (i.e. microtech brend talon and the like.)? or does this in some way make it look cheap?

for that matter is this even a possibility? does this make it $50 more expensive?

Sal, make sure that there are plenty of plain edges to go around. I will definitely buy one !!!!

By the way, what dealers should I start bugging to make sure that I get one of these puppies?

We will be announcing the model to the dealers in the next newsletter. I would suggest contacting your favorite "authorized" Spyderco dealer sometime next month.

Oh, well. So much for cutting down on knife purchases.

How can I possibly pass up a plain-edge CF Civilian?

BTW, any update on these?

Speaking of Favorite Authorized Spyderco dealers.

Can anyone help me out here? James Mattis used to be my dealer (rest in peace, James). In fact, I had already made arrangements to get the CF Civilian through him.

Any suggestions for me?

Sal, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! A carbon fiber Civilian will be gorgeous! I will order (2) Serrated & (2) Plain, if I can get them! Why anyone would want to carry this knife is beyond me. If you want to carry it, get G10! Put this one with the "Look but Don't Touch", group!

Well, for one thing, it would be my only chance to carry a left handed Civilian (I'm a southpaw). I'd much prefer a LH version of the G-10 model, but I haven't heard of any plans to have them made.
Still, I must agree with Ronybear in that I can't see myself carrying a knife with this price tag. Better stick with the Matriarch, which is ambidextrous and more than good enough.

Regards,

Leo Daher
PS: OTOH, if there's ever a LH version of the G-10 Civilian, I'll buy me a matching pair!

I plan on carrying them. Tried to order some a couple of weeks ago but they weren't taking names yet.
