CF S90V Paramilitary 2 for edc?

That's the thread that came to mind, but there's nothing there to support the idea that Spyderco is going to do a second run of this knife.

Use it. What do you think will be more special to you in 10 years? A knife in a safe that has appreciated 100 dollars or that ol friend that has been part of your life experiences? For me it's an easy choice. You can decide for yourself

Oh I've decided.

It's in my pocket right now. Also I put a scratch on it last night while using the edge pro so it doesn't have it's perfect NIB status anymore.

I'm not worried about it because while spyderco might not make this particular knife ever again, I'm sure that they will make one equally as special down the road and I'll want that one too. It's not like this is the be all end all of the knife world, it's just a great knife meant to be used.

I'm a huge advocate of the S90V CF Para 2 and even though I buy two of any knife I expect will be special I do not do it for profit. I do it to make sure I might have a lifetime of use from the special knives. If I end up not being thrilled, I sell for about what I paid. The buyers determine what you can sell for and on the BF Exchange, most buyers will dictate a fair price. I prefer selling on BF for that reason. Knowledgeable, fair buyers.

But all that said, you are spot on. Use your special knives because more will be out that are similar or just as good. Plus, I'm not so sure even the S90V Para 2 in CF will be top of the heap in 1, 2 or 3 years and further. It's been said a lot recently that "this is a great time to be a knife enthusiast" and that is 100% accurate. I am just as motivated about what is coming out as what is currently offered. Even if I don't know what all will be coming.

And one last thing, making a notable profit on after market knife sales is a pipe dream from my experience. Having learned that, all I want to do is move out older knives at fair value to fund newer knives if I sell.

The profiteers become obvious while those who aren't become obvious too. Choose your team.

I may get flamed for this. But, honestly, I think it's silly to buy these knives and safe-queening them in anticipation of profit in the future. The amount of money we're talking about (in the big scheme of things) is MINISCULE. Seriously... how much money can you possibly make? A hundred? A couple hundred? If we push the envelope of credulity... maybe a few hundred?? After how long? A few months? A year? Several years?

I'd rather spend my efforts to earn money actually WORKING or producing something of value.

These knives are not gold bullion or stock. They are functional tools. I think they are way cool, and am a recent knife-convert. But, I don't see them as a profit opportunity. It's just too small potatoes, AND it would deprive me of enjoying the knife.

Looking forward to getting my P2 S90V and putting it in the EDC rotation.

Flame on! ;)

I seriously doubt you'll get flamed; I beleive the vast majority of the people here think the exact same way.
