Well i finally just finish'ed this one up, it's my first damascus hawk, it's made from a billet of chainsaw blades, and the haft is maple. The wrap is done with a very thin leather, then soaked in resin, and cured.

The blade has a bit of 1080 hc steel, so that i could achieve decent heat treat without guessing.

there are also some copper accented pins holding the wrap on...though mostly for looks, as the resin has bonded it all together pretty good.

handle-19'',

eye- just under 1 5/8'' from end to end in the tear drop?? if that makes sense, and the wrap around part is just under 3/16'' thick, and about 1 3/16'' wide.

o.a. length- just over 7 1/8''

blade- there's about 2 3/16'' cutting edge.

Price is $200drop to $175 to include priority shipping, sheath available apon request

thanks for look'en

Nice looking hawk. It looks like you have been building them for years. It will sure make someone happy.

If ya want it to be, it's a wrap around hawk, and i've seen alot of wrap around throwers.

A friend of mine has a collection of bronze age battle axes and one of them is a mirror image of this hawk. Except it is 2500BC.

well then he better grab this'en up so it's not lonely...

cool stuff though, ive never studies much weaponry from that time area, guess I lucked out..:D

A bunch of his stuff came out of tombs in central Asia along the old "Silk Road". Trade with China was active even that long ago.

Now that you mentioned it....

Ever see the Glacier Man or whatever they called him? This axe looks very similar to his. What we're trying to say is that you make bronze age tools out of steel :p

I do like the axe and the pattern, too bad your possums died and won't be making another one :(

interesting, i really liked how the wraps turned out on this handle, and will probably keep the idea in use on future hawks, as it's comfortable, and very grippy..........(if thats a word??):D

thanks for the info

I like the wraps too! I have several hawks and the wrapped ones are more handy.
