There's probably a thread or two like this already, but I wasn't sure how to search for them topic-wise. This is my wishlist of changes I would like to see in regard to both custom and production knives, as well as the industry in general, based on 20 years of collecting, using, and loving every aspect of both (if anybody cares). ;) What's yours?

1. Bob Terzoula ATCF in ti framelock format and a mirror-image mini version
2. BM Mini-AFCK with Axis Lock and sub-3" blade
3. CRK Small Sebenza with tip-down clip positioning and double lugs standard
4. More leather sheaths without straps... Snug-fitting pouch-style for all
5. Knife-purveying websites only listing what they have in stock
6. Cliff Stamp making his own knives to his own standards... I'd buy one. :)
7. Tactical/utility folders without pinned construction
8. Knife magazines covering knives that are actually news to me
9. More personal appearances of Bob Loveless at knife shows
10. Blade serrations going the way of the phrase "You Go Girl" and the like
11. More subhilt fighters, production and custom
12. Kydex/Concealex anti-scratch enhancements
13. More choices among production and custom mega-folders

I'll stop at 13. It's my lucky number after all. What about you?

(Edited to add #14. The AKTI becoming more proactive that reactive.)

Professor.

How about a collaboration between Chris Reeve and Benchmade to make an Axis lock Sebenza... I'd be done buying folders for life.

production knives with many handle options (a la Bark River)...they just mill out the damn scales anyway...why not give us some choice? :)

Nitin

At one time, I think Buck would allow you to send in your own handle material to have a custom 110 scaled with it. If they did, I wish they would bring that back!

I would love one with whitetail deer antler!

I'd like to see more wire clips for knives.. yeah they look cheaper but they tend to sit deeper in pockets and are less noticeable.

put a clip on a bm 42
They've done this in the past in limited numbers, and rumor is they're going to do another run.

I would like to see:

The Microtech LCC back in production.
The MT Tachyon back in production.
A 4" blade MT D/A OTF.
Benchmade BM31 Bali-Song back in production (with SS handles)
A Leatherman Squirt with titanium scales, or at least something more durable than the weak anodization on the aluminum they're doing now.
A quality-steeled SAK styled knife.
A Chris Reeve balisong.
A Christ Reeve auto.
A wharncliffe Spyderco folder with full serrations.
A Spyderco auto (never gonna happen).

I'd like to see that. Actually I'd like the 707's blade, with round hole, of course) on a 812/4 handle which is much more secure and comfortable for me than the 707 handle (I checked out a 707 a couple of days ago, and loved the blade, but did not buy one because of the handle).
I'd like to see BM do a collaboration with Darrel Ralph. A full size Axis CF or G-10 EDC would make an outstanding knife.
A Spyderco Lum Chinese with a frame lock plus a semi guard and/or serious traction grooves for the index finger. A Manix, with slim handles and a compression lock, or a Calypso ltwt. (full-size), or a Paramilitary with a Calypso style blade.
A small plain Sebenza...wharncliffe.
INFI readily available to makers/manufacturers so all my favorite knives can be made of it.
That's not asking too much, is it?

A Small sebenza with wharneclif blade with either a spyderhole or David Boye milled out recess for opening.

I agree a redseigned Spyderco Lum CHinese with framelock and a more ergo handle.

I'd like to see Case offer alot more of their patterns in CV steel. I'd also like to see them offer some fixed blades in CV. Although that don't sound like much to ask, it doesn't seem like its going to happen. Lots of folks have been asking for years.

I would like to see some of the more conservative pocket knives that are currently in production offered with better steel and handles. Same knife, but with premium specs (and of course, a price to match)

Example: Kershaw Leek with mid-high to high grade steel (154CM/ATS-34, VG10, or even S30V) and also with G10 Scales.

I know there is one offered from CKT with the S30V steels, but I have a personal aboration to coated blades.

Production companies have to move a fair amount of hi-vol/lo-qual, but I think Kershaw is planning to move a few premium spec knives as an experiment. I hope it takes off, and I wish them luck.

Hey Prof...

"12. Kydex/Concealex anti-scratch enhancements"

Any thoughts about this ?

We already know lining won't work..

ttyle

Eric..

How about an Axis-Lock Spyderco? That would be kinda nice, or has this been done? Oh well..

an assisted opener Spyderco

a reliable Frost or Jaguar el cheapo knife that I wouldn't have to worry about my fingers getting chopped off when using it.

Ethan Becker giving us an uncoated blade option, and making the pouches on his sheaths bigger. And on the BK-9 sheath, maybe even adding a second pouch below the first. And perhaps giving us colour options on the scales and sheaths.

Victorinox releasing a Rucksack with a blade that's twice the thickness of the current one.

Manufacturers realizing that coating something black and calling it "tactical" does not impress everyone.

More Damascus. On everything.

I'd like to see the Spyderco Military get dual liners and the same lock as the Dodo.
