Charlie Ridge "Survival" an ongoing beating.

No offense guys, but this thread is not about a hole in a knife. It is a review of a knife and how Bruche liked it.

Mark(Charlie Ridge) is a stand up guy and makes a heck of a knife. I have 5 from him, including one of his survival knives and they are all well made workhorses. Thanks for the review Bruche:thumbup:

Word. If you want to complain about the hole, make another thread.

I got my CR Survival Knife out today and gave it a whirl. My camera is acting up so none of the pics will upload. I stropped it to shaving sharp prior. I made a buttload of fuzz sticks, batoned through 5 pieces of firewood, and made some drillholes with the tip. No damage to the edge at all. It wouldn't shave, but it would still push cut paper. 3 minutes with a strop and it was shaving again. I will do the same this week and get some good pics. Thanks for the knife Mark.

I have one of Mark's nessies and it's a "beauty"! This could be the "beast" to make quite the woods pair.

What hole, all I see is an awesome knife.....seriously guys, I have been trying to bite my tongue here. Mark is one heck of a good guy and I can assure you he would not intentionally infringe on some right of a hole to be a hole.....I guarantee IF there is such a thing, it was not a malicious attempt to copy and there are likely enough angle, centimeter, milimeter and other meter differences that it can't be called the same. This is an awesome knife made by an awesome maker, that happens to be a very good man. So please comment on the thread as it was intended as a review of an AWESOME knife......I mean no disrespect to anyone that commented about the legal rights of a hole, just don't think it has anything to do with the testing, or amazing test results of this fine knife. I'll shut up now. Thanks.

Great review and pics, ilbruche

I like the looks of this knife as an all-purpose, survival tool. The tip has enough point while remaining safe from breakage, the wide, flat blade is plenty stout and the handle has enough length to accomodate different grips, sizes of hand, and glove wearing.

Looks like a winner, to me, and that's coming from a firm believer in 9" blades :D

I also appreciated the maker telling how he arrived at the final design. His account gave insight and validity to the final package.

first of all, all of the people that have said anything about the talon hole ahve not bashed the knife at all. they are all good guys who are just trying to let the maker know that its a trademark so he can be aware of it. I seriously doubt Jerry cares unless the maker brags which i dont see him doing. But attacking people for letting someone know is stupid. it is a awesome knife and im sure its bullet proof but dont flame people for just talking. and no one is going to make a thread just for a talon hole and if they did who would read it. so its better said now and the maker is aware of it than he gets extremly popular and gets sued for being neglegent. just my 2 cents

Who was attacked here?

Check the busse forum and see who was doin the attacking.

All that was said here was lets keep the review on topic. Its a freakin hole. Let the suits argue over the legal issues. Thats what they are for. sheesh.

That's a great looking knife. I really like the extened tang/pommel, whatever it's called. I'd like to get my hands on that knife to give it a whirl.

I recently got a CR knife through a trade, it's an early CR and it looks like a work horse. I've got to take some pics and show you guys. The thing feels like a tank.

Oh - IMO, no matter who's hole it is, I don't see the need for it. It doesn't take away from the overall looks of this knife, but I really don't think it adds anything either.

Either way - Great knife, geat pics and thanks for the review.

Awesome knife charlie, and great review Il, looks like a sweet knife, congrats.

I hate to say it though guys, I think that blade design is trademaked, and the handle styles, sorry.:D

Sadly enough...NO

You can't trade mark a hole. That would be like tradewarking a hole in the ground or a hole in a piece of wood.

It has been and is

Certainly has turned into one

It amazes me how many defective camera's we have  Ya just never know about those things. NO PICS

Guys, how bout we just enjoy the steel and the tool, if something is brought up, let's not take it personally. I am surprised by the flamming from those that curiously weren't the maker  Great knives rock

AND push button receive bacon hmmmmmmmm LOL ilbruche, not that you mean anything by that.
