Cool!... I was wondering if there were many epoxy soaked wraps on production knives at all.

I think durability isn't the issue, maybe uniformity or maybe labor cost?

Yeah, I bet labor would be expensive, since it is hand tied and has to be hand bushed/soaked having an exposed butt. Too bad the edge geometry wasn't ideal, it is a cool knife. Tapered tang and finger groove like contouring as well.

I love the wrapped handle but the "plastic" handles hold up better, imo.
Hi Gang.

Good morning guys!

I hear you Rolf, that makes sense.

Xander that sounds right... I like that knife too.

Edge geometry is something I am constantly experimenting with. There is no simple formula I know that! Many knives are too thick behind the edge... I believe that drag caused by secondary bevels can have a big influence too.

Actually, it's the kydex that is doing my wrapped handle in! If the kydex just held the blade, this scuffing would not happen. I do like Hartsfield's metal lined sheaths for this reason.

I bet those Hartsfields metal lined sheahs made a cool sound when drawing your blade! Good morning y'all gonna be 107*today.I shoulda went to the mountians!

Like a Ninja.
Kevin- Phill's sheaths were Aluminum but the one side had like a brown heavy duty paper on it. The paper side was against the blade.

I made one of those sheaths, they are awesome! light as can be and seemed like they would scratch the blade less than kydex

Its bloody hot. Somewhere around cremation or spontanius combustion temp right now. Lucky me, I'm off work and about to ride home. Ugh.

The only thing I have to look forward to is a cold beer and Zylers kiddy pool in the back yard! Too damn hot today! Wunderground.com for 95204 says its 108.5 right now!

I'm reading the previous post and this reminds me of the epoxy.
A few years ago I worked installing generators, in one of the last works had to reinforce the floor of a house with a steel sheet 50 cm wide and 4 m long to bear the weight of the generator set.
These sheets were glued with epoxy, a fellow prepare 8 liters which dropped over some of the technicians of Catterpillar ...
The next day appeared completely shaved ....

Morning.

Well, I got a call late last night that a close friend, fellow sailor, a guy I grew up sailing with drowned yesterday. He died in his home port, the waters he learned on and returned to as often as he could.

Sorry for posting this here, but y'all are my friends and some of you are sailors as well. I swear I must have recited a Sailors Prayer 1000 times in my head now. I'm just lost, confused and pissed off all at the same time.

I can write out a Sailors Prayer if you don't know it, but would like to.
