Cheap Flippers

I have a Marksman, actually. With all of the knives I said I have or had, it kinda shows I am a flipper addict :)

The Marksman isn't super cheap, but $80 isn't terribly high. It is pretty much at my hard cap for cheap flippers, though. Go a little past the Marksman, and suddenly you have dozens of options, all for around $100, but that isn't very budget friendly for somebody who likes to get new knives often.

That said, I do like my Link, but it doesn't have a detent at all, and doesn't really qualify as a flipper... or safe when manual. Assisted it is nice, albeit hefty and a bit pricey. Out of everything, Real Steel caught my eye the most, because they have flippers and bearings for under $50. Good steel to boot! I would buy the Sea Eagle in a second if the clip was reversible, but everybody seems to be oddly quiet on the subject, even actual owners. The Thor is also on my list, but it is nowhere near the looker of the Sea Eagle.

Mentioning "cheap" flippers, a couple come to mind. I have a Schrade sch502 that has one of the best actions I've think I've ever had in a super discount blade. In fact, I liked the action so much that I bought a second, still new in box (that I really should sell because I need to thin). I also have a black washed version of it that just does not fly as smooth as the stonewashed version.

Have a number of Colt's also. A couple on the shelf in front of me are the CT493 (bought 15 of those to give to the local scout troop). Also the CT605 which is a Hinderer 18 look-alike. Actually a great knife for a $12 g-10 mystery stainless.

Many of my super cheap Chinese knives require a little tweaking and a good cleaning/oiling to get working smooth, but for the price, most of them end up very useable.

love this Kershaw. 25.00

Thought I had seen every model of Kershaw, but not this one.

What is it?

BTW, looks quite a bit like the new Kizer Gemini!

Kershaw Amplitude 3.25 bead blast variant. I can only find it on the Walmart website, but my sleep deprived brain could be missing something. I have the blackwash version and it is a nice knife.

That's the Wal-Mart version of the Kershaw Amplitude 3.25. It looks nicer than it really is. QC on this Wal-Mart version is all over the place. You might have to examine a few samples to find a good one. I've seen some atrocious samples of this knife.

Since the OP said that he doesn't want an assisted opener, I will suggest the Liong Mah designed CRKT G.S.D.

Available in plain edge or partially serrated. Smooth opening with IKBS bearings, strong detent, and solid lockup. Taiwanese made, and considerably better fit and finish than cheaper Chinese made models.

I checked for you.... alas... the clip is not reversible as it needs the reces you see in the photograph which is missing on the other side.
But FWIW; the Sea Eagle is a gorgeous knife that is very well made from good materials and offers a very good bang for your buck!

Just throwing out an option, if you don't mind tip down lefty carry. the CRKT Hammond Cruiser. It really is a great knife for what you pay, and they can be had for 20 bucks at many online stores

The one I received is good.
