Cheap knives that continue to beat out more expensive knives for pocket time.

Looks great! Mine's a BLK one too, it looks a little weird seeing one without a wave now that I'm so use to mine. Is that grip tape? The pattern you cutout is very blur like, it looks good too.
Thanks! Yep, its grip tape. I got "finger board" grip tape (for toy skate boards lol) from an auction site that we all know for $1.69 shipped for a 2.5"x 5" piece (I believe that was the size). And its good to know it looks like the Blur, because that is what I was going for lol

It's a CS medium Voyager cutting stuff I don't want to use my more expensive knives on. My favorite edc's are some BM's and a Spyderco at around $150.00 each (that's a lot to me) and I'm not afraid to use them in the normal tasks of their design but the Cold Steel's can handle the more abusive stuff at only $35.00.

Last week I was carrying my new Strider SnG, ZT 0801 and something else...when I switched out to my Rat 1 and dang it's a good cutter and does everything I expect a folder to do...made me chuckle at my higher priced buys.

I carry different knives depending on what I'm planning to do, but the one knife that's ALWAYS in my RF pocket is my black Vic Executive. Been carrying it since the late '90s or so. I like its size and functions...size-wise, it's between a Classic and a Recruit.

This is what I use for trimming bushes and weeds, rough stuff, around the house. It just works very well. I bought three of theses, all BLEMS, from the KershawGuy. Gave two away to friends. Kershaw JunkYardDog vers 2.2

It features a Composite blade using CPM-D2 steel on the spine and CPM-D2 on the cutting edge, separated by a copper accent.

I just can't go past my Spyderco Byrd Tern. It costs a tenth of my ZTs but goes with me everywhere and is used on a daily basis. Victorinox Super Tinker in the other pocket and I am set.

I had to reread the OP several times before I finally understood exactly what was being said.

I can't say that I've ever bought one knife, to replace a cheaper knife for EDC, and yet continue to carry the cheaper knife in its place.

What I actually do is carry the cheap knife in addition to the good knife, and use the cheap one in a situation when somebody needs a knife but might wind up damaging it in the process.

Nobody cares if a Gerber gets dragged into a mud pit for the simple purpose of scraping dirt and muck off a broken waterline pipe.

I had always been a SAK guy. I have been carrying a Vik farmer for more than a year. i have tried to upgrade....spyderco PM2, BM 705, GEC 73 and GEC 42. while i like all of those mentioned, after a short while, the Farmer was back in my pocket. and there it remains.

My Opinel 06, and Victorinox Recruit are carried quite often, more so, than even my large CRK 21 Sebenza, and ZT 200, in fact I never carry those two folders anymore it seems, in favor of more simplistic, traditional folders. You're never too good for some, inexpensive cutlery. As my taste for more expensive knives change I can always agree on a SAK or Opinel.

I carry a Meyerco Dirk Pinkerton every day there is something about the size and feel of it that makes me grab it every time I leave the house

This stays in my pocket ever since I got it....inexpensive, very well built, and tough as nails.

This will stay in my safe...over 4 times the cost of the above, very well built, and tough as nails.

What knife is that top one?

I can't quite read the inscription on it. I would like to get one just because I like the ergos and ..well, I saw your post.

Okay I found out the name.. It is a ESEE Zancudo Folder. But I can't find a place that has the orange one for sale.

It is a SAK Adventurer for me. I've tried and continue to try others including a GEC 23. The other future candidate for an inexpensive knive is the KaBar Dozier folding hunter. Like this knife.
