Cheap knives...

All my favorites have been named already but yes I have truly owned some awesome knives under $50. And if I had to I could EASILY get by with sub $50 knives, no problem.

I have a bunch of $100+ folders and fixed blades, but still have a soft spot for cheap knives as well.

SAKs
Opinel
Mora
Svord Peasant
Enlan EL-02

My most recent cheapo purchase is a $20 MTech MX-8108. It has been a lot of fun to mod:

Rat 2, Kershaw Turbulence and Skyline, anything by Mora or Opinel really. Plenty of value in the under $50 category.

Moar pics.

The BK-15 rules for under $50

Svord Peasant and Military (taken on my coffee table just now with my phone,)

I'll pile on and suggest Moras and the inexpensive Kershaws, especially the american-made Leek and Blur (the desert sand goes for 45 at Kershawguy). They certainly aren't the best of my collection, but they're their fit and finish for the price is almost unbeatable.

These are all worth every penny, all in the $30-$50:
OKC Rat 1
Condor Hudson Bay
Condor Bushcraft Basic
CRKT S.P.E.W.
CS Kobun
Spyderco Aluminum Cricket

Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite and Tuff Lite.
Victorinox knives in the $40-$50 range can be quite nice.
Boker Gnome.
Spyderco UKPK (with FRN handle).

And some $10 "Rambo/Ninja" knives that impressed me when I was 13. :D

Most recently I've been blown away by the value of a Cold Steel machete bowie I just purchased for 15 bucks for future pig hunting ...wow ...what a piece of carbon steel!

I've also enjoyed the Mora Companion and some very inexpensive Pakistani patch knives (each around $10)....heavy blades and scales....good bushcraft/skinning. I also found the Mtech 086 for $13 a good value camping/pig knife.

I've been pleased with the Schrade 10" bowie and both Kershaw Tremors and Ontario Red Jacket folder.

Lastly ...I'll even give a hooray for two Chinese production Hibben ...5025 & 5027...both full tang with 7cr17 that develops a decent edge for a hunting knife with a thick leather sheath

Lastly....can't ignore my Buck 110 and the Omni 12 Pt....a heavy multi use darn sharp workhorse .

Yes, an Ontario Rat II that I gifted. Awesome little knife for $25. Then I thought I'd try an Esee Zancudo for myself because they're supposed to be very similar. I couldn't be more disappointed. Meh..

I'm a fan of Case Sodbusters, I absolutley love how they look. I also enjoy the cheaper Schrade Sodbusters too. Svord Peasant knives. Opinels. Buck folders. SAKs. I just love everything about these cheap affordable knives. I just got into the knife world, so I don't have much but these are great. I am definitely a pocket knife kind of guy.

I plan on getting an Ontario RAT 2 and a Mora soon as well.

One knife I almost never see mentioned that I think is a great value is the Lansky Responder. I've got two (different sizes) that I use the he'll out of and they haven't let me down yet.
Any of the less expensive kershaws, to many to name.
Moras of course, 15.00 for a companion! Insane deal.

Ontario Rat-1 and Rat-2 as well as the Utilitac II models. I've had much more expensive knives that didn't seem as sturdy as those folders. Very stout and comfortable. As for fixed blades, the Cold Steel Bushman series is a very big bang for your buck. Several of the Ontario Spec Plus series of fixed blades can be had for under fifty dollars and are of good quality. Then there's Condor, they have a large selection of knives for under that price point. Many of which are awesome bushcraft knives, as well as some big mean metal monsters. Not to mention many of them also come with leather sheaths.

I have a Utilitac II which I love. I had a Rat-1 (The one with the bullet lanyard) which was my favorite but it has since pulled a Jimmy Hoffa sadly. I also have a Condor Dundee Bowie, with is like a bowie on steroids in my opinion, and I'm now looking at getting the Cold Steel Bushman Bowie.

Yep, my meyerco shockwave, lansky X9, and kershaw knockout blem were all extremely impressive and I had a hard time putting them down.

Ever had a cheap, say under $50 folder or fixed blade that really impressed you?
Several.
Vintage USA made Camillus.
Vintage USA made Schrade.
Vintage Ulster.
Case,
Victorinox.
Wenger.
Opinel.
Mora.
Hultafors.
Ahti.

Kershaw emerson cqc's are surprisingly affordable, decent folders under $30. Condor hudson bay is under $40. Value knives I would say.

I like the Byrd Cara Cara 2 and the Enlan EL-02. They are both 8Crmov, but seem to hold an edge quite well.

Folder's :

Kershaw Tremor, best under $25 knife I've ever owned.

Benchmade HK Ascender, Best under $50 knife I've ever owned and a real standout at any price point.

Cold Steel Voyager series.

Fixed:

Ka-Bar large Heavy Bowie. The price may have gone up since I bought mine but I paid under $50 for them. Great Knife, one of my all around favorites.
