Cheap knives...

I'm surprised at the lack of responses for CRKT. We all love to bash them but I was recently reminded they make a reasonable product for a low price. I was given an "Endorser" a couple of weeks ago and I have been carrying it mostly to please the giver. It's got a cute fiddly lock system and AO but it's very usable for my day to day needs. I also have a few older ones that work well for what they are.

All of my Rough Rider slip joints, Colt, Hammer Brand, and Buck canoe pattern knives, Buck 110, Uncle Henry LB-7, Opinel, Cold Steel Kudu and Eland, CRKT Wave and Slip Kiss ... There are lots of good knives out there for less than $50, some a LOT under.

I've been a Chris Reeve, Emerson and Busse fan for a long time and have the knives to prove it - though I seem to be thinning the herd of late and vacating safe space. With the extra cash this selling has generated in my PayPal account - what else does one do other than buy a few knives?

Becker fixed blades provide exceptional functionality and utility for the price and the in-between or so-calle Tweeners (Models 15, 16 & 17) are just splendid 1095 (1095 CroVan) knives with the 15 being my favorite of that range and, just happens to be under $50 of late if you shop around.

In the folder category, I adore my Sebenza and my Emersons. I also have some Spydercos that I really like, but some under $50 folders such as the RAT-1, Thermite and Kershaw Emersons are going to ruin me on $100+ user folders I tell ya!

To me, the single biggest risk facing a folder, especially an EDC folder, is loss. In that regard, paying thirty something dollars is an awfully good countermeasure in my mind - especially of the knives perform - which, in the case of the three I mentioned, they do and do very well!

Here's a few of my under $50 knives when I bought them. Even the Puma Medici and Case 5318 were under fitty. They were stolen off the bay auction. That impressed me :pride:

I guess you could build a pretty good collection of "cheap" knives. ;)

Just to add to what others have said:

Utillitac II

It's an amazing knife, at that price point or at many others.

Opinel #6&8 are both great knives.

I have a Leatherman Micra that's been great and handy.

I have a no-name Japanese style chef's knife that I've always liked. Then I took it to tom veff to see what he could do with it. It looks like he reprofiled it a little to give it some belly and I'll be damned if it isn't a much improved kitchen tool. Now that I think about it, I'm going to give him a couple other knives and see what he can do with them.

Spyderco tenacious, Buck Nobleman, Kershaw CQC6A, Thermite, and Cryo, Cold Steel Voyager, Spyderco Native, Boker Automat Kalishnkov auto, CRKT Apache and Polkowski/ Kasper Fixed blade, Byrd Meadowlark, Buck Bantam.

Im sure theres more, but thats all i can think of right now.
