Cheap PSK mirrors

Canadian Tire has Coghlan's unbreakable(they aren't,but you got to work at it)camping mirrors. As I recall they were cheap, under five bucks.

I guess it depends on what you want a mirror for... signaling or use as a mirror. A cheap cased glass mirror will work, but they are usually pretty small and heavy for their size. Larger ones break pretty easily since they tend to be rather thin untempered glass. A lot of compasses have a mirror built into them. Here is one I like : http://www.bensbackwoods.com/servlet/Detail?no=203 More expensive than the cheapie lexan mirrors, but better made and still under $10.

Yup. I have a few kicking around.
I used my dremel to cut one down to credit card dimensions and now it lives in my wallet!
:D

So if you want one to fit in an altoids tin break out your dremel.

You can find useful things in strange places.
When i was training to be a conservator i needed a case for my kit and the case had to fit the dimensions of the lockers at school.
I looked high and low but couldn't find any case that would fit in the locker.
Well one day I was in the Shoppers Drug Mart getting caffeinated/sugary treats (exam food) and saw a really sturdy aluminum "make-up" case for $40 that was the perfect size!
It was like a camera case, reinforced and in brushed aluminum finish. Unfortunately it was full of makeup! lol!
I went home for Christmas a few weeks later and the Shoppers there had them as well.
So i gave my mom $40 to buy it, i kept the case she kept the makeup, lol.
Of course due to its girly origins i felt compelled to "man it up", so i spray painted it flat black!
:D

Yes, you sure can find useful things in strange places.

I always check out the discount stores and look at kids toys. I have found several cheap toys for a buck, that had really nice mirrors on them. They are very tough and almost impossible to break as they have to be child proof. The ones I have are about .025'' thick and about 2''x3'' and very very tough, and flexible. They are a plastic, but are also a real mirror. I think it was a kids make up kit or something, I can't remember.

And to think I've wasted hours (seems like days sometimes!) standing around in Michaels, Jo Ann's and AC Moore rolling my eyes and sighing while I could have been looking for stuff for me! I need to expand my thinking a bit. (This forum has been great for a W&SS novice like me.) As for the coupons, I don't think my wife has ever paid full price for anything in her life ever so that's no worry! (That's not a complaint by the way!) But since that is a fact, I'm confident that they take each other's coupon's, just in case you have a Michael's coupon but find yourself in AC Moore.

This is what I use, picked it up many moons ago. Mirror is on opposite side. Hopefully I'll never have to use it.
